Behind the illegal road construction into Yen Lac Church
(Baonghean.vn) - The Nghi Kieu commune authorities have announced that the encroachment on land and road construction is illegal. But why did the incident on October 5th still occur?
The Yen Lac parish (Xuan Kieu parish) has approximately 35 households, nearly 148 people living in three hamlets: 9, 10A, and 10B; the church is located in hamlet 9. For a long time, the parishioners' religious activities have been carried out normally on the road from hamlet 9 to hamlet 10A, connecting to the Yen Lac parish church.
On September 4, 2015, the People's Committee of Nghi Kieu commune received a petition from the Yen Lac parish requesting the "opening of a road to the church." The reason given was that "In 1987, Kieu 1 Cooperative (now Nghi Kieu Kindergarten Cluster 1 - PV) for unknown reasons built an embankment blocking the old road from the church's front straight south, bordering the inter-communal road" and "The legitimate wish of the parishioners is to reopen the old road leading directly to the parish church in accordance with document 299."
To provide a basis for resolution, Nghi Kieu commune established an inspection team.The commune authorities have twice invited representatives from Xuan Kieu parish and the Pastoral Council of Yen Lac sub-parish to a meeting. The purpose was to inform them of the results of the verification of the petition, confirming that the request from Yen Lac sub-parish has no basis for resolution.
Specifically, Map Sheet 299 does not show a road leading directly from the church gate to the inter-communal paved road. Currently, the road leading to the Yen Lac parish church still meets the needs of parishioners for travel and spiritual activities.

However, in response to that goodwill, Mr. Nguyen Van Luu, Chairman of the Parish Council of Yen Lac, refused to sign the minutes, citing the following reason:"I will only sign when my father gives me permission."At 10:00 AM on September 30th, the parish priest of Xuan Kieu loudly declared:"If you handle it this way, then whatever the parishioners do, don't call me, and I won't be responsible."The situation culminated in the events that occurred on the mornings of October 5th and 6th, as reported by Nghe An Newspaper.

The act of demolishing fences, encroaching on and opening roads within the premises of Cluster 1, Nghi Kieu Kindergarten, is a violation of the law. Currently, the authorities are conducting an investigation to clarify the matter and handle it according to legal regulations.
