Behind the illegal road opening into Yen Lac church
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghi Kieu Commune authorities have announced that land encroachment and road construction are illegal. But why did the incident still occur on October 5?
Yen Lac parish (Xuan Kieu parish) has about 35 households, nearly 148 people living in 3 hamlets 9, 10A, 10B; the church is located in hamlet 9. For a long time, the religious activities of parishioners have taken place normally on the road from hamlet 9 to hamlet 10A connecting to Yen Lac parish church.
On September 4, 2015, Nghi Kieu Commune People's Committee received a petition from Yen Lac parish regarding "requesting to open a road to the church". The reason was "In 1987, Kieu 1 Cooperative (now Nghi Kieu Kindergarten Cluster 1 - PV) for unknown reasons built a dike across the old road from the front of the church straight to the south adjacent to the inter-commune road" and "The legitimate wish of the parishioners is to reopen the old road straight to the church according to the right map 299".
To have a basis for resolution, Nghi Kieu commune established an inspection team. The commune government has twice invited representatives of Xuan Kieu parish and the Yen Lac parish Pastoral Council to work. The purpose is to announce the results of the verification of the petition, affirming that the Yen Lac parish's petition has no basis for resolution.
Specifically, Map Sheet 299 does not show a road from the church gate leading straight to the inter-commune asphalt road. Currently, the road to Yen Lac parish church still ensures the travel and spiritual needs of parishioners.
