Our Party - the revolutionary party of the Vietnamese nation

Our Party is the Communist Party of Vietnam – the genuine revolutionary party of the working class and the Vietnamese nation, founded on February 3, 1930. The birth of our Party, withrevolutionary lineThe only correct path: National independence linked with socialism, the national liberation struggle placed within the orbit of the world proletarian revolution, ended the profound crisis regarding the path to national salvation, and opened the correct path to regaining national independence, freedom, and happiness for the people.

The history of the nation and the entire Vietnamese people have entrusted the entire mission of leading the national liberation struggle to the working class and the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The history of the Vietnamese nation over the past 91 years, since the founding of the Party, has affirmed that the trust placed by the entire Vietnamese nation in entrusting the Party with the leadership of the liberation struggle was absolutely correct and necessary, a historical inevitability of thousands of years of nation-building and national defense, enabling the country to confidently enter modern history.

Our Party - the Communist Party of Vietnam - has truly been the "offspring"(*) of the working class and of the Vietnamese nation, and has fully deserved the trust of the entire nation and the responsibility that history and the nation have entrusted to us.

It is the heroic Vietnamese nation - and the new era - that gives rise to the Party.Communist Party of VietnamWith the Party's leadership, our country and our people have the foundation, position, and prestige we have today, allowing us to confidently, steadfastly, and enthusiastically enter a new period of development opened up by the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party.

Our Party - the Communist Party of Vietnam - is a genuine revolutionary party.“Because apart from the interests of the class, the people, and the nation, our Party has no other interests”(*). “Our Party is a genuine revolutionary Party also because our Party is moral and civilized”(*).The Party dares to acknowledge and knows how to correct and overcome its mistakes and shortcomings.

Our Party - the Communist Party of Vietnam - lives in the heart of the people and the nation to unite and lead the entire people.

For all these reasons, our entire nation wholeheartedly protects the Party, placing our complete trust in it in times of victory as well as in times of hardship. That trust has remained intact for the past 91 years and continues to be strengthened, just as the folk verse says: "No matter what anyone says, our hearts remain as firm as a three-legged stool."

Fifteen years after its founding, our Party led the entire nation in a general uprising to seize power for the people. The August Revolution of 1945 succeeded in establishing the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam). From then on, along with its role in leading the revolution, our nation and our people placed even greater trust in the Party, entrusting it with the position of power. From then on, our Party was both the leading party and the ruling party.

However, colonial and imperialist powers, with their ambition to dominate the world, relying on their economic and military strength, launched two wars of aggression. The history of our country entrusted our Party with the crucial responsibility of leadership and governance to protect the people's government and safeguard the independence and freedom that our nation had sacrificed so much blood for.

With the spirit of "rather sacrifice everything than lose our country or become slaves," and "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom," our entire nation rose up in unison, and under the leadership of the Party, defeated two powerful imperialist powers.

With the country achieving independence and unity while advancing towards socialism, after 15 years of struggle to gain power and 30 years of struggle to maintain a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, our Party has affirmed: The Party knows how to govern in order to maintain power. The Party's leadership capacity and fighting strength have been enhanced, as demonstrated in its governing ability and competence.

Independence, freedom, and a government are prerequisites for building and defending the Fatherland, for establishing a new regime, and for bringing happiness to all the people. The history of the country and the nation has once again entrusted the Party with a new responsibility: to overcome poverty and backwardness.

In his speech at the 30th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Party (1960), President Ho Chi Minh said:"Defeating imperialism and feudalism is relatively easy, but defeating poverty and backwardness is much more difficult"(*).In his will, left to the entire Party and the entire people, in the section "to be added" (May 1968), President Ho Chi Minh wrote:“It is an extremely huge, complex and difficult task” (**). “This is a battle against what is old and rotten, to create something new and good. To win this huge battle, it is necessary to mobilize the whole people, organize education for the whole people, and rely on the great strength of the whole people (**).He emphasized:"In my opinion, the first thing that needs to be done is to reorganize the Party" (**).

Faced with encirclement, embargoes, forced to wage two more wars on the southwestern and northern borders, and plunged into socio-economic crisis, in response to the trust of the entire nation and to fulfill the instructions of President Ho Chi Minh, our Party made a historic decision at the Sixth National Congress: RENOVATION.

"Innovation" is necessary to meet the urgent demands and heartfelt aspirations of the country, the people, and the nation, while keeping pace with the trends of the times.

In initiating the reform process, our Party led the entire nation, relying on the great strength of the people, combining national strength with the strength of the times to overcome socio-economic crises; successfully breaking the blockade and embargo; and integrating more deeply into the international community. From there, our country transformed from a poor, underdeveloped nation into a developing country. The achievements gained after 35 years of reform are recorded in national history and acknowledged by the international community. The nation's foundation, achievements, potential, and position have entered a new chapter. This is the driving force for the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army to enter a new period of development, aiming towards the goal of overcoming poverty and backwardness by 2045, as outlined in the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party.

Thirty-five years of reform also mean thirty-five years of our Party constantly rectifying itself, fighting against what is old and rotten, in order to create something new and better, as President Ho Chi Minh advised. And thanks to this, our Party continues to be worthy of being the leader and the loyal servant of the people.

Our Party - the Communist Party of Vietnam, founded, educated, and trained by President Ho Chi Minh - has rightfully and continues to rightfully assume the leadership role in the entire glorious revolutionary cause of the heroic Vietnamese nation and of Vietnam, a country with a thousand years of civilization.
