Suzuki Fronx review: A-segment pioneer hybrid SUV
Suzuki Fronx enters the A-size urban SUV market in Vietnam with a hybrid transmission, many ADAS safety technologies and competitive prices in the high-end version.
Suzuki Fronx officially joined the A-class urban SUV segment in Vietnam, bringing a new choice with the first mild-hybrid transmission system in the segment. This model not only stands out with its unique coupe-SUV design but is also equipped with many advanced safety technologies, positioning itself as a product aimed at young customers who love technology and care about fuel efficiency.

Dynamic coupe-SUV design
Suzuki Fronx has overall dimensions of length x width x height of 3,995 x 1,765 x 1,550 mm and a wheelbase of 2,520 mm. The highlight of the Fronx's design is the hood that curves backwards in a coupe style, creating a sporty and different look compared to competitors in the same segment.

The front of the car impresses with a large, glossy black grille. The main headlights using multi-reflector LED technology are placed low, while the LED daytime running lights are arranged higher, forming a modern two-tier structure. The high-end version also has an automatic high-beam on/off function. At the rear, the LED taillights running across the entire width of the car are a trendy design detail, combined with a large silver-painted rear bumper, emphasizing the SUV style.

The car is equipped with 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. The ground clearance reaches 170 mm and the turning radius is 4.8 m, helping the car move flexibly in urban conditions. A notable point about the configuration is that the car uses disc brakes on the front wheels and drum brakes on the rear wheels.
Two-tone interior and technology
The Suzuki Fronx's cockpit is designed with two main colors, black and bordeaux red, giving a sporty and high-class feel. The seats are made of leather combined with felt. The three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, integrated with paddle shifters on high-end versions, provides a more active driving experience.

The highlight of the GLX Plus version is the head-up display (HUD), a rare feature in the segment. The center of the dashboard is a 9-inch touchscreen entertainment screen, below which is the automatic air conditioning system. The highest-end version also has a wireless charger. However, the car still retains the straight gear lever and traditional mechanical handbrake.

The rear seats are spacious enough for three people, with separate air-conditioning vents for added comfort. The luggage compartment has enough space for short trips.
Hybrid powertrain and performance
The Suzuki Fronx is equipped with a 1.5L K15C petrol engine combined with the mild-hybrid SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) system. This system provides a total capacity of 97.9 horsepower and a maximum torque of 135 Nm. The standard GL version uses a 4-speed automatic transmission, while the two GLX and GLX Plus versions are equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
According to the manufacturer's announcement, Suzuki Fronx has a fuel consumption in combined conditions of 5.23 liters/100 km, an impressive figure in the segment, showing the advantage of mild hybrid technology in optimizing operating efficiency.
Advanced ADAS safety technology
On the highest-end GLX Plus version, the Suzuki Fronx is equipped with a 360-degree camera and an advanced driver assistance technology package (ADAS), including important active safety features:
- Automatic Emergency Braking (DSBS II)
- Lane Departure Warning and Assist (LDP & LKA)
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM)
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
Equipped with a comprehensive ADAS package, Fronx becomes one of the safest models in the A-size SUV segment in Vietnam.
Price and position in the segment
Suzuki Fronx is distributed in Vietnam with three versions and listed prices as follows:
| Version | Selling price (million VND) |
|---|---|
| Suzuki Fronx GL | 520 |
| Suzuki Fronx GLX | 599 |
| Suzuki Fronx GLX Plus | 649 |
At this price, Suzuki Fronx competes directly with rivals such as Kia Sonet (VND 499-624 million), Hyundai Venue (VND 499-539 million), Toyota Raize (VND 510 million) and VinFast VF 5 (VND 529 million). Despite the higher price in the high-end version, Fronx creates a distinct advantage thanks to the hybrid powertrain and full ADAS safety technology package.
Conclude
The Suzuki Fronx is a notable addition to the A-segment SUV market, offering hybrid technology and advanced safety features that are unheard of in the segment. While the top-end price tag may be a deterrent, the Fronx is a compelling option for those looking for an efficient, safe and distinctive city car.
