(Baonghean.vn) - As of November 12th, 26 teams, including host nation Russia, have directly qualified for the 2018 World Cup finals.

1. Europe:In the European region, 9 direct qualification spots went to France, Portugal, Germany, Serbia, Poland, England, Spain, Belgium, and Iceland. The first leg of the play-offs, featuring 8 teams: Switzerland, Denmark, Italy, Croatia, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Greece, and Sweden, has just concluded with Sweden, Switzerland, and Croatia having the advantage in terms of score.

2. Asia:The four direct qualification spots were determined in September, belonging to the teams of Iran, Japan, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia. Asia is hoping for a fifth representative, Australia. The team nicknamed the Socceroos recently held Honduras to a draw in the first leg of the intercontinental play-off.

3. South America:The four guaranteed spots from the South American region went to Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, and Colombia. Peru finished fifth and played a play-off match against New Zealand, representing Oceania. The first leg ended in a 0-0 draw.

4. North, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF):The first three spots from the CONCACAF region went to Mexico, Costa Rica, and Panama. Fourth-placed Honduras competed against Australia for a play-off spot.

5. Africa:The African continent was the last region to determine the five teams that qualified directly for the World Cup. The African representatives at the 2018 World Cup were Nigeria, Senegal, Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco.

The remaining spots will be determined this week and early next week. The draw for the group stage will take place on December 1st in Moscow, Russia.
