The Vietnamese women's national team has finalized its squad for the 33rd SEA Games with a mix of experienced veterans and emerging young players.

On the afternoon of December 1st, coach Mai Duc Chung announced the list of the Vietnamese women's national team for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand. Three players will be unable to participate: Duong Thi Van, Ngan Thi Thanh Hieu, and Vu Thi Hoa. Van has not fully recovered from her injury, while Thanh Hieu and Hoa need more time to gain international experience.

Despite the absence of Chương Thị Kiều and Nguyễn Thị Vạn due to injury, the squad for the SEA Games still has depth with many players who participated in the 2023 Women's World Cup.

Many key players are still included in this SEA Games squad. Goalkeeper Kim Thanh, defenders Hoang Thi Loan, Le Thi Diem My, Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, forward Pham Hai Yen, and captain Huynh Nhu continue to play a core role. These are names who have previously competed with the Vietnamese women's national team at the biggest tournament on the planet and have experience handling pressure well.

Coach Mai Duc Chung continues to push forward with the generational transition. Players born from 2000 onwards are being given more important roles, including Tran Thi Duyen, Tran Thi Hai Linh, Thanh Nha, Ngoc Minh Chuyen, and Thuy Hang. They bring flexibility and speed, making the team more dynamic during the demanding SEA Games schedule.

In the last four SEA Games, the Vietnamese women's team has consistently lifted the trophy under coach Mai Duc Chung. The over 70-year-old strategist expressed his desire to lead the "Golden Star Warriors" to another milestone at the 33rd SEA Games, thereby affirming their leading position in the region.

At the 33rd SEA Games, the team was in Group B along with Myanmar, the Philippines, and Malaysia. Myanmar and the Philippines were predicted to pose many difficulties for Huynh Nhu and her teammates, as both teams had invested heavily and added many naturalized players with superior physiques.

Before flying to Thailand, coach Mai Duc Chung assessed that all opponents are accelerating investment and upgrading their squads. However, he believes that the Vietnamese team has the agility, creativity, and strong fighting spirit to compete on equal terms.

He also shared that the 10-day training camp in Japan, which included many high-quality friendly matches, helped the players gain more experience, refine their techniques, and boost their confidence ahead of the 33rd SEA Games.

According to the plan, the Vietnamese women's national team will travel to Bangkok at 8:40 AM on December 2nd before heading to Chonburi, the venue for the women's football matches at the 33rd SEA Games.

The entire team aims to go as far as possible and continue their journey to assert their position as the number one team in Southeast Asia.
