A 400 billion VND football betting ring has just been dismantled by the Kien Giang Police.
On March 9th, the Criminal Police Department of Kien Giang Provincial Police announced that they had dismantled a 400 billion VND gambling ring.
The investigative police agency has initiated legal proceedings against Nguyen Dang Khoa (51 years old, residing in Rach Gia City) and his accomplices to investigate the crime of "Organizing gambling". Khoa is the ringleader of this gambling operation.
According to initial investigations, the Kien Giang Provincial Police discovered an individual in Rach Gia City who was using cyberspace to organize gambling in the form of football betting.
This group had been operating an organized gambling ring for a long time, on a large scale, with complex characteristics, and employed numerous methods to evade law enforcement agencies…
The police in Kien Giang province have launched a special investigation to dismantle this large-scale gambling ring.
Through investigative measures, the police determined that the suspect Khoa frequently accessed online football betting sites and managed a Super Master account with 700,000 UT, equivalent to 8.4 billion VND. Meanwhile, Khoa's subordinate system was divided into 7 master accounts, 32 agents, and 131 members.
At approximately 9:00 AM on February 23rd, the Kien Giang Provincial Police, in coordination with other professional units, deployed multiple teams to arrest Khoa. During the search, the police seized 16 mobile phones and over 300 million VND.
According to the police, from February until now, the system has recorded more than 1,000 visits to Khoa's website for football betting, with the total amount wagered equivalent to 1.5 billion VND.
The suspects confessed that they had been involved in gambling activities from August 2024 to the present, with transaction amounts totaling approximately 400 billion VND.
