The Yen Bai City Police have arrested Nguyen Van Ngoc, 25, an employee of a mobile phone store in the area, to investigate his involvement in theft.
According to the investigation, on October 15th, a customer bought an iPhone 6 Plus at the store, but when they opened the box, the 20 million VND phone was nowhere to be found; instead, it was filled with rocks and pebbles. The seller opened another box and discovered the same situation.
Suspecting Ngoc was the culprit, the police summoned him, and the male employee admitted to the act.
Ngoc confessed to stealing the contents of 15 boxes of iPhone 5 and 6, selling them for over 100 million VND. According to her confession, after work, Ngoc secretly opened the display cases, used a heat gun and a cutting tool to cleverly open the phone boxes, then replaced them with pebbles and stones. Ngoc rewrapped the boxes to make them look new, so the store did not detect the deception during external inspection.
