Revolutionary ethics of cadres and Party members in the new era
Having gone through nearly a century of development and growth, the Communist Party of Vietnam has consistently affirmed its leading role in the country not only through intellect and courage, but first and foremost through the revolutionary ethics of its cadres and members. In the new context, the Politburo's Regulation 144 on revolutionary ethical standards is an important benchmark, contributing to building a clean and strong Party and consolidating the people's trust.
Revolutionary ethics are the root of prestige and strength.
From its very founding on February 3, 1930, our Party has identified morality as a prerequisite for the qualities of a communist. For President Ho Chi Minh, morality is the "root" of a revolutionary. He once likened it to this: Just as a river needs a source to have water, a tree needs roots to flourish. A revolutionary must have morality; without morality, no matter how talented, they cannot lead the people.

In the historically rich land of Nghe An, for Party members, the standard of morality lies not in theory, but is embodied in sacrifice and boundless loyalty to the Fatherland. This is also the prestige that unites the masses under the banner of the Party, creating absolute strength to achieve victory.
Mr. Loc Vinh Thuong, a Party member from Chom Lom village, Chau Khe commune, who has been a Party member for 49 years, shared: “My view on the revolutionary ethics of a Party member is the same as before: political integrity must be number one. But for me personally, it must first and foremost be a role model. If you are not a role model, no matter how capable you are or how much you speak, the masses will not follow you.”

Throughout the revolutionary periods, cadres and Party members have consistently upheld their integrity and served as a reliable support for the people. However, in the negative aspects of the market mechanism, a segment of cadres and Party members have succumbed to temptation. Therefore, Political Bureau Regulation No. 144 on "Standards of Revolutionary Ethics in the New Era" was created as a benchmark for each Party member to self-reflect and correct their own conduct in the current Party rectification effort.
“Regulation 144 meets the dynamic practical requirements of the current period, especially in consolidating and developing the capacity, character, qualities, and prestige of cadres and Party members, preventing and repelling the decline in political ideology, morality, lifestyle, self-evolution, and self-transformation among cadres and Party members,” affirmed Mr. Ngo Ba Cuong, Head of the Party Building Department, Nghe An Provincial Political School.

Setting an example from the grassroots level.
In the digital age and with deep international integration, the standards of integrity, innovation, and integration, as stipulated in Regulation 144, establish a new mindset for officials: not just fulfilling their roles, but also achieving breakthroughs. Regarding the Party branch of Lien Dong Secondary School, Mr. Dang Van Hien, Secretary and Principal, shared: "The Party Committee and the school's Board of Directors are always steadfast in their educational goals, upholding the role of setting an example for students and colleagues as the guiding principle for every official and Party member. This is a spirit of responsibility, daring to think and act; creativity in innovating teaching and management methods; and integration through proactively applying technology and accessing new knowledge, contributing to improving the overall quality of education."

Along with upholding patriotism and loyalty, President Ho Chi Minh, during his lifetime, frequently emphasized that the core character of a Party member is "Diligence, Frugality, Integrity, Righteousness, and Selflessness." These eight golden words have been elevated by Regulation 144 to become mandatory standards for building a strong Party organization from the ground up.
In Thanh Vinh ward, the implementation of this initiative is not limited to written documents and plans, but is demonstrated by Party members through their work, daily lives, effective use of common resources, and listening to and protecting the legitimate rights of the people. This is especially true in positions that frequently interact with the public.
According to Ms. Bui Thi Lan, Internal Affairs Specialist at the People's Committee of Thanh Vinh Ward, respect, understanding, impartiality, and transparency in handling work, and avoiding harassment or corruption when dealing with citizens, are top priorities. Only when officials and Party members live honestly can they frankly fight against wrongdoings around them and prioritize the interests of the collective and the people above all else.

Revolutionary ethics are not something that comes naturally; they are the result of persistent training and continuous self-cultivation. In real life, the exemplary conduct, humility, and self-cultivation of a Party member have a more powerful ripple effect than a thousand words.
At the Minh Chau hamlet Party branch in Quan Thanh commune, the movement "Party members lead the way, the people follow" has become a guiding principle for action. Through the principle of "matching words with actions," from the Party committee to each Party member, they always lead in the most difficult tasks. When Party members know how to listen to the people, respect the people, and humbly learn, that is the best way to protect the Party's prestige in the hearts of the people. Mr. Nguyen Doan Minh, the Party branch secretary, said: "The Party branch must demonstrate three qualities: fighting spirit, leadership, and high educational value. The Party branch must become a bridge between Party members and the people. Only then will the people have even more trust in the Party branch."

Revolutionary ethical standards are not unfamiliar but are present in everyday life. In Chau Khe, a border commune in western Nghe An province, the standards of "Unity - Discipline - Compassion - Responsibility" have become an intrinsic strength creating change throughout the villages.
In Chau Khe commune, Party members must always be pioneers, fulfilling their promises and leading the way in all movements. From resolutions to practical actions, in the spirit of unity coupled with discipline, cadres and Party members must always be proactive, working alongside the people to build a more prosperous life. “I think, first and foremost, the Party committee, with the Secretary and the Standing Committee members, has fostered internal unity, avoiding parochialism, factionalism, and jealousy, so that everyone understands all aspects of the work and focuses on completing their tasks,” said Mr. Phan Anh Tai, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Chau Khe commune.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized: "A strong Party is built on strict discipline, revolutionary ethics, and a spirit of service. Every cadre and Party member must self-reflect and self-correct; guard against temptation; and feel ashamed when the people are still poor." Therefore, the implementation of Regulation 144 by cadres and Party members is not only about building ideal models, but also a sharp weapon to fight against and prevent degradation, corruption, and negative phenomena. This is also an urgent requirement for building and rectifying the Party, enhancing responsibility, public service ethics, and the dedication to serving the people of cadres and Party members in the new era.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Hong, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Quan Thanh commune, the locality focuses on implementing the following: Enhancing the role, responsibility, pioneering spirit, and exemplary conduct of Party members towards the people, especially those in leadership positions, who must be dedicated and committed to implementing the policies, laws, and regulations of the Party and the State, becoming shining examples for the people to follow.

Revolutionary ethics is the strength that enables the Party Committee and people of Nghe An to overcome all obstacles. Upholding ethics means preserving the people's trust – the most precious asset of the Party throughout the past 96 years. In the springtime with the Party, the springtime of the nation's resurgence, in the homeland of beloved President Ho Chi Minh, that flame will forever illuminate and guide Nghe An to confidently move towards the future.
