On the afternoon of October 4, the Phu Lien village committee, Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu) mobilized villagers to dig a hole in the ground to plant trees in the Bang beach area. When digging down nearly 1 meter, a villager was shocked to discover a mortar shell with a radius of 82 mm and a length of more than 30 cm.

The village committee then reported to the authorities. The Quynh Luu District Military Command sent military officers to the scene to handle the situation.
