Lombok Island in Indonesia is shaken again by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake.

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake at a depth of approximately 7 km struck the town of Belanting in eastern Lombok, Indonesia, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

"The earthquake caused panic among residents, who fled their homes. We are still investigating,"Metro TVAccording to Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman for Indonesia's national disaster response agency, there is currently no information on the number of deaths or injuries.

"I was driving to deliver aid to evacuees when suddenly the power pole shook. I realized it was an earthquake. People started screaming and crying. They all ran out into the street," said Augus Salim, a resident of eastern Lombok.AFP.People in Mataram, the largest city in Lombok, and the nearby island of Bali also felt the tremors.

This earthquake occurred two weeks after a powerful 6.9 magnitude tremor leveled tens of thousands of structures on Lombok island, killing more than 460 people and injuring tens of thousands, while forcing 350,000 to evacuate. The hardest-hit area was the northern part of the island.

Indonesia lies on the Pacific "Ring of Fire," where tectonic plates collide, and therefore frequently faces earthquakes and volcanic activity. In 2004, a tsunami following a 9.3 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Sumatra, western Indonesia, killed 220,000 people in countries around the Indian Ocean, including 168,000 in Indonesia.
