Thanh Lan Island: Experience stunning sunrises and sunsets in Quang Ninh.
Boasting pristine beauty with 70% of its area covered by natural forest, Thanh Lan Island (Co To) attracts tourists with the experience of watching both sunrise and sunset in a single day, along with the upcoming sea bridge project.
Thanh Lan Island is the largest island in the Co To archipelago, Quang Ninh province, with an area of 27 square kilometers. Unlike the hustle and bustle of busy tourist centers, it captivates visitors with its slow pace of life, pristine natural scenery, and diverse forest and marine ecosystem.
Strategic location and how to get to Thanh Lan Island
Located in the Co To Special Economic Zone, Thanh Lan Island holds a particularly important strategic position in the Gulf of Tonkin. To reach this island, visitors have many transportation options.

Specifically, from the ports in Van Don, locals and tourists can take a boat or speedboat, with a travel time of just over an hour. If departing from the main island of Co To, the journey only takes about 15 minutes.

The pristine beauty of a "gem" in the middle of the ocean.
Upon arriving in Thanh Lan, travelers are easily captivated by the poetic beauty of this northeasternmost region. The most unique feature here is that, on the same day, visitors can admire both sunrise and sunset from two different locations as the sun disappears below the horizon.

Currently, over 70% of the island's area is still covered by natural forests. Famous beaches such as Ba Chau, Hai Quan, and C67 retain their pristine beauty, untouched by the development of urban tourism. Gentle waves and long stretches of sand create a space completely isolated from the noisy outside world.

Experience local culture and development potential.
The islanders primarily make their living from fishing. Recently, the local community has begun developing responsible experiential tourism activities such as snorkeling, exploring the natural forest, and fishing with local fishermen.

In an effort to unlock the island's potential, the Co To Special Economic Zone has approved a project to build a 2-kilometer-long sea bridge connecting Thanh Lan Island and the larger Co To Island. The project, scheduled for implementation between 2027 and 2029, promises to create a major turning point for transportation and tourism infrastructure in the area.

Investing in synchronized infrastructure not only makes travel more convenient for residents but also transforms Thanh Lan into a key destination on the tourism map of Quang Ninh province, while still prioritizing the preservation of the island's original peaceful beauty.
