Smashing ATMs to steal money because of... desperation.
Khoa claimed that he was unemployed, sick, and in dire straits, so he took a risk and brought a crowbar to the ATM to smash it and steal the money…
On December 9th, the Binh Tan Police Department in Ho Chi Minh City completed the case against Anh Khoa (born in 1985, from Bac Lieu, temporarily residing in Binh Tan) for the crime of "destruction of property".

Khoa is the person who used a hammer and crowbar to vandalize an ATM on Le Van Quoi Street, Binh Hung Hoa A Ward, Binh Tan District at 3 AM on December 8th.
At that time, Khoa brought a hammer and crowbar to the ATM and attempted to pry it open with the intention of stealing money. The alarm system installed at the ATM triggered a signal to the bank, and the bank's security team quickly arrived at the scene.
At that moment, the police of Binh Hung Hoa A ward, who were patrolling the area, received the report and promptly apprehended Khoa. When arrested, Khoa had not yet committed any theft.
During questioning, Khoa repeatedly complained about his hardships, including unemployment, illness without money for treatment, and the desperate circumstances that led him to take drastic measures.
A quick test showed that Khoa tested negative for drugs.
