In retaliation against Ukraine, Russia launched a fierce attack on logistics in Odessa.
In the early hours of August 17, the Russian military launched an attack on military infrastructure at Ukrainian seaports, while also intercepting hundreds of drones targeting its territory.

According to RT, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its armed forces continued their campaign to attack Ukrainian military infrastructure and naval vessels serving the Ukrainian army in the early hours of August 17th. This operation targeted numerous key objectives across Ukraine in retaliation for Ukraine launching its largest drone attacks against Russia.
At the port of Odessa, Russian drones struck a Tarantul-class patrol boat. The vessel was tasked with ensuring the security of Ukrainian maritime vessels during transit and cargo unloading. The fuel storage area was also destroyed. Moving on to the port of Izmail, Russian forces targeted the dock where military cargo was being unloaded. Warehouses storing Western equipment and drone storage facilities were also among the targets.
The previous day, Russian armed forces also carried out several other airstrikes. In the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky area, UAVs destroyed a factory and warehouse containing components for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). These vehicles had previously been used to attack ships and energy facilities in the Black Sea, as well as threaten Russian coastal cities. In addition, the mooring area of Ukrainian naval patrol boats was also neutralized. These boats are responsible for escorting military cargo and fuel ships to ports.
In addition, three dry cargo ships and two oil tankers at the port of Odessa were hit. These ships were transporting equipment and fuel for the Ukrainian army. Russian forces also destroyed additional fuel tanks and military depots there. In the Black Sea area east of Odessa, a dry cargo ship carrying Western weapons for the Kiev government was completely destroyed.
To counter the counterattacks, the Russian air defense system operated at high intensity. In the early morning of August 17, Russian forces shot down a Ukrainian T205 UAV.
However, civilian areas still reported casualties after the fighting. According to information from the acting governor of the Belgorod region, Alexander Shuvaev, Ukrainian forces fired rockets at the village of Koloskovo in the Valuysky district, causing 10 casualties.
