1.8 kg of opium hidden in belt brought across the border

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 20, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Hieu - Political Commissar of Phuc Son Border Post (Nghe An Border Guard) said that the unit has just issued a decision to prosecute the case, hand over the subject and evidence to the authorities to investigate and clarify the case of transporting opium across the border.

Previously, at noon on April 19, at Cao Veu border control station, Phuc Son Border Post discovered and arrested a Laotian subject transporting opium into Vietnam.

Xeng Cham was arrested with evidence.

The arrested subject is Xeng Cham (born in 1969, residing in Pheng Ngam village, Xay Cham Pon district, Bo Ly Kham Xay province, Laos). The seized evidence was 1.8 kg of opium resin and 1 motorbike. The opium was hidden by Cham in his waist area in order to avoid the authorities.

Through investigation, the Phuc Son Border Guard Station arrested two more related subjects, Nguyen Huu Cuong (born in 1980, residing in Linh Son commune, Anh Son district) and Hoang Van Cuong (born in 1981, residing in Luc Da commune, Con Cuong district).

Additional evidence seized from the subjects included 75,000 Baht (Thailand), 8,368,000 VND and 3 mobile phones.
