Concealing 1.8 kg of opium in a belt to smuggle across the border.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 20th, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Hieu - Political Officer of Phuc Son Border Guard Station (Nghe An Border Guard Command) - stated that the unit had just issued a decision to initiate a criminal case and handed over the suspect and evidence to the relevant authorities for investigation into the case of opium trafficking across the border.
Earlier, at noon on April 19th, at the Cao Vều border control station, the Phúc Sơn Border Guard Post discovered and apprehended a Lao national red-handed while transporting opium into Vietnam.

The arrested individual was Xeng Cham (born in 1969, residing in Pheng Ngam village, Xay Cham Pon district, Bolikhamsai province, Laos). The seized items included 1.8 kg of opium resin and one motorbike. Cham had concealed the opium in his waistband to evade detection by authorities.
Through questioning the suspects, the Phuc Son Border Guard Post arrested two more related individuals: Nguyen Huu Cuong (born in 1980, residing in Linh Son commune, Anh Son district) and Hoang Van Cuong (born in 1981, residing in Luc Da commune, Con Cuong district).
Additional items seized from the suspects included 75,000 Thai Baht, 8,368,000 Vietnamese Dong, and 3 mobile phones.
