One of the most impactful activities in the "Youth Joining Hands to Build New Rural Areas" movement of Hung Nguyen district's youth is the program to renovate and build new volleyball courts for people in special areas, and to organize exchanges and fraternal ties between youth branches of agencies, units, and schools with youth branches in religious areas.

Most recently, the District Youth Union supported the construction of a 250m2 cement volleyball court worth 20 million VND, including all the posts, balls, and nets, for the residents of Hamlet 7, Hung Nhan Commune. While the residents of Hamlet 7 were mixing mortar to pour the concrete for the court, Mr. Au Duong Hoa, the Hamlet Party Secretary, told us: The hamlet has 152 households, of which 48 are Catholic, and their economy mainly depends on agriculture. The men work in construction, while the women stay at home to farm. The lives of the people are generally difficult, so when they received the news that the District Youth Union was supporting the volleyball court project, coinciding with the hamlet's recognition as a cultural village, the residents were very excited. That evening, the Party branch and the hamlet's leadership announced it over the loudspeaker, and the next morning the residents voluntarily came to help the Youth Union officials lay the foundation and pour the cement for the volleyball court. "Volleyball is the favorite sport of the people in the neighborhood. The villagers even suggested that after the volleyball court is completed, they could install more lights so they could play volleyball in the evenings!" Mr. Au Duong Hoa said enthusiastically.

Directly supervising the construction of volleyball courts for the people, Mr. Cao Anh Duc - Secretary of the Hung Nguyen District Youth Union - said: This activity is part of the District Youth Union's "Youth Joining Hands to Build New Rural Areas" project, aimed at areas still facing many difficulties. The funding comes from contributions from youth union members in the district. In addition to building 6 new volleyball courts for Catholic hamlets in Hung Nhan, Hung Trung, Hung Tay communes, etc., each court costing about 20 million VND, the program also provides partial support to local youth union branches to repair and upgrade about 15 old volleyball courts.

Along with activities aimed at improving people's spiritual well-being, many activities contributing to raising public awareness in building a civilized, clean, and beautiful lifestyle are also given attention and implemented by Youth Union organizations at all levels. Accordingly, every year, 100% of Youth Union branches in the district undertake youth projects related to environmental protection activities such as "Volunteer Saturday," "Green Sunday," etc., collecting more than 17 tons of waste. The Standing Committee of the District Youth Union coordinated and organized major campaigns such as: dredging and clearing Canal 17A section passing through Hung Tay commune to serve drought prevention and drainage in Hung Nguyen and Nghi Loc districts with more than 400 Youth Union members participating; dredging and widening Gia Diem - O Ga Canal (section passing through Hung Xuan commune) with the participation of over 350 Youth Union members. The entire district has 23 youth volunteer teams at various Youth Union branches, actively participating in environmental protection activities and safeguarding the rivers of their homeland.

Retaining young people through economic models.

Recognizing that economic development and income improvement for the general population, and especially for young people, are prerequisites for building new rural areas, and also solutions to "retain" young people in the locality, the Hung Nguyen District Youth Union focuses on prioritizing support for young people to establish themselves and their careers in their hometown.

Over the past period, the Standing Committee of the Hung Nguyen District Youth Union has implemented many solutions: encouraging and supporting young people to develop family economies by coordinating the opening of vocational training classes, providing career counseling and guidance, and introducing jobs for young people; supporting young people in building and developing youth cooperatives, savings and loan groups, and economic development linkage models suitable to the local conditions. In addition, they have proactively coordinated with the Social Policy Bank to guide young people in borrowing capital to develop production and business. They have also strengthened and improved the effectiveness of mutual support groups and teams to help young people start businesses, encouraging them to boldly invest in production and business development, and build economic development models right in their hometowns...

The integrated farm economic model of Mr. Pham Danh Quy in Hamlet 3, Hung Nhan Commune, is a typical example. Previously, Mr. Quy left his hometown to work for companies and businesses inside and outside the province, but his life did not improve. Therefore, he decided to return to his hometown to invest in developing an economic model. The challenge was finding suitable land for production.

Understanding Mr. Quy's aspirations, the Hung Nguyen District Youth Union proactively worked with the Hung Nhan Commune People's Committee, sending a letter requesting the authorities to prioritize creating favorable conditions for Mr. Pham Danh Quy to lease land for agricultural production. They also supported him with legal procedures and a portion of bank loans to quickly stabilize production. Now, Mr. Quy has a 3-hectare farm growing various crops with promising results. Mr. Pham Danh Quy said: "Thanks to the help and encouragement of the District Youth Union and the local government, I was able to boldly be a pioneer in investing in economic development in the Bai Loi area, combining vegetable farming and livestock raising."

In supporting and encouraging youth economic development, the youth of Hung Nguyen also prioritize disadvantaged and special areas. “To date, the District Youth Union has supported the construction of 7 youth economic development models in disadvantaged areas and areas with a large number of religious followers, and will continue to pay attention to this activity in the future, both to strengthen the work of expanding, uniting, and gathering youth, and to contribute to bringing the project “Youth joining hands to build new rural areas into life effectively” - added Cao Anh Duc, Secretary of the Hung Nguyen District Youth Union.
