(Baonghean.vn) - Driven by a sense of responsibility and a desire to share, these union "chefs" have further ignited a flame of love towards the frontline forces in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Unlike previous years, this year's summer vacation for kindergarten and primary school teachers in Nghi Loc district is linked to "Trade Union Kitchens" serving meals at centralized quarantine facilities in the area. Currently, there are 146 F1 cases undergoing centralized quarantine throughout Nghi Loc district, with the quarantine facility in Nghi Dien commune having the largest number at 65 people. Therefore, the grassroots trade unions in this commune are also working the hardest. To prepare lunch for the checkpoints in the area, the teachers of Nghi Dien Kindergarten have to start work very early. Photo: DT

Mr. Phan Van Sam, Chairman of the Nghi Loc District Labor Union, shared: "From the beginning of June, the District Labor Union launched a campaign to mobilize and call for 'All citizens to unite and strive to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic'. Since then, grassroots trade unions have always been ready to contribute, enthusiastically registering to participate in cooking meals to serve quarantine areas and frontline forces, without hesitation." "Trade Union Kitchens" are a model of the Education Sector Trade Union aimed at supporting and ensuring that teachers and students living far from home receive nutritious and safe meals. During the pandemic, this humane model spread to all grassroots trade unions, targeting doctors, nurses, officials, soldiers fighting the epidemic, and people in quarantine zones. In Hoang Mai town, these kitchens started operating from the beginning of May, right after the first case of infection was reported in the area. Photo: Provided by the Trade Union

Accordingly, the menu for each meal will be monitored and balanced to ensure variety and adequate nutrition. Photo: Provided by the Trade Union Branch

Preschool and primary school teachers are the key workforce in most of these kitchens. However, in many schools, parents also enthusiastically register to participate alongside the teachers. Not only are the menus diverse, but the ingredients for these meals are also carefully selected to ensure food safety and hygiene. In many schools, the vegetables for these meals are sourced directly from the school gardens. (Photo: Provided by the school)
According to the "chefs," finding plastic trays for rice and soup during this period is very difficult. Even "union kitchens" in the heart of Vinh City, such as Le Loi Kindergarten and Quang Trung Primary School, have had to mobilize teachers to collect trays from various suppliers to meet their needs. With a limited number of meals to serve, the chefs of the Thanh Chuong District Labor Union used lunchboxes to hold the food. This not only reduces plastic waste but also ensures food safety and hygiene. Photo: Provided by the Union
Despite the arduous cooking under the scorching sun, the joy of these "union chefs" lies in personally delivering the meals they've carefully prepared to the "soldiers" fighting the pandemic. This is a truly precious act of sharing in the hardships and deprivations. (Photo: Compiled)
