A female chef working for a prison in Michigan, USA, was fired for having sex with an inmate in the kitchen on May 10.

The NY Post reported on May 13 that the unnamed chef was fired after a "noisy tryst" with an inmate was discovered at the Charles Egeler Reception Center in Jackson, Michigan.

They allegedly had "intimate relations" in a food cooler, shortly after dinner at 7 p.m. on May 10, officials confirmed.

According to Chris Gautz, a prison spokesman, the staff fired the employee because she was threatened.

"The inmates will take advantage of 'physical intimacy' to threaten and blackmail the female chef. Her family could be in danger," Gautz said.

According to the Detroit Free Press, new inmates are brought to this detention center to await execution.

The man is serving a five- to 15-year sentence for robbery. The woman, who works for food service contractor Trinity Services Group, could face criminal charges, but that depends on the decision of Michigan State Police.

Another Trinity Services Group employee was arrested in September 2016 for kissing an inmate. Investigations revealed she had communicated with him through an internal prison email system.
