Signs you are about to be rich

Knowing how to do business from a young age, drinking but not smoking, being popular at school or having a good appearance can help you earn more than others.

1. Earn money from a young age

One of the things the world's richest people have in common is that they started making money at a young age. Billionaire investor Mark Cuban sold garbage bags door to door at age 12. Warren Buffett sold gum to his neighbors when he was 6. And Richard Branson raised and sold parrots at age 11.

If you had an entrepreneurial spirit as a child, your chances of making a lot of money when you grow up are very high.

2. Not satisfied with yourself

Were you a 9 in school who still wasn’t satisfied? If so, you’re thinking exactly like the world’s millionaires. They don’t want to make $1 million, they want to make $10 million.

3. Good appearance

This may sound unfair. But studies have shown that good-looking people are more attractive to interviewers and are more likely to make sales. According to research by Daniel Hamermesh, a professor at the University of Texas, these people earn an average of 3-4% more than their less attractive counterparts.

4. Have a sense of urgency

Millionaires never wait for the right time to start a business. They understand that there is no better time than now. Sitting around and waiting is the easiest way to destroy your dreams.

5. Focus on earning money rather than saving it

Many rich people live frugally. But the problem is that even though they are extremely frugal and spend wisely, they always remember that the best way to make money is to invest it.

6. Be popular at school

A study by a team of professors from the University of Chicago, Essex and the Institute for Employment Research (IER) found that "after 40 years, the most popular people in high school earned 10% more than the rest." In other words, being popular helped them have more friends and more opportunities to earn money.

7. Always work with a goal

When it comes to the future, the rich have long-term goals and needs in mind. They didn’t make millions by accident. If it’s not what you’re working toward, you’ll never make it.

8. No divorce

A study from Ohio University found that divorce reduces a person's wealth by a third compared to a single person. Meanwhile, marriage nearly doubles wealth.

9. You can drink alcohol, but don't smoke.

One study found that people who drink earn more than those who don't. This is because it helps them build better relationships. "The person who doesn't drink, while not necessarily a bad thing, tends to be more conservative. And that puts him out of social circles," says Jin Britt, author of "Do This. Get Rich."

Yet rich people don't smoke. They spend too much money on cigarettes. And that money could be better invested.

10. Stay informed

The world's most successful people start their mornings with a news feed. Warren Buffett and Bill Gates read newspapers like the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, and The Financial Times. This gives them more information to help them make better investment decisions.

11. Always improve yourself

A college degree can make a difference in how much money you make. But it can't determine whether you'll be rich or not.

Bill Gates is one of the most famous examples of a college dropout. But that doesn’t mean he and other wealthy people, like Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos, stop learning. They are always improving themselves by reading books and learning new skills.
