Construction of the Ta Lam dike road is being accelerated to protect over 100,000 people.
(Baonghean.vn) - The project to upgrade the Ta Lam dike in Thanh Van, Thanh Tuong, and Thanh Dong communes (Thanh Chuong district) is being accelerated to be completed before the peak of the rainy season.
The project to upgrade the Ta Lam dike in Thanh Chuong district, from K18 to K25+546.5, with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development as the investor, is being constructed in the three communes of Thanh Van, Thanh Tuong, and Thanh Dong. The main components are being expedited to ensure completion before the rainy season.

The dike system is protecting over 102,500 people and 16,300 hectares of residential land, agricultural land, and infrastructure within the project area. In addition, to upgrade the inter-communal road in Thanh Chuong district connecting with Nam Dan district, facilitating the exchange of agricultural products and the development of tourism along the Lam River, the road surface along the dike has been widened to 6.5m and constructed with asphalt concrete.
To ensure greater flood protection, the project also includes upgrading the river-side embankment, encompassing two embankment sections, Cam Thai 1 and 2 – areas where the riverbank has eroded to the base of the embankment, threatening its safety.
In addition, there are rescue and relief routes that combine construction and operation management, such as Route No. 1, 361.94m long, starting from the intersection in Rang town (intersecting with National Highway 46), connecting to the beginning of the dike at K18+00, with an asphalt concrete structure; and Route No. 2, 128.23m long, starting from the intersection at Dung market (intersecting with National Highway 46), connecting and closing with the dike at stake 9 (K24+946.74), with an asphalt concrete structure.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, the project commander and representative of the construction unit, the project commenced on October 1, 2016, with a commitment to completion within 29 months. These days, workers are focusing their efforts to ensure the project stays on schedule and is completed before May 30, 2018.
Determine the importance and significance of upgrading and repairing the Cam Thai dike system, especially the following:The construction of the service road has brought joy to the people in the communes through which the road passes; they have created the most favorable conditions for the contractor to carry out the construction.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ngan, Chairman of the Thanh Van Commune People's Committee, said that the commune has a 4.5 km access road running through it, so when the plan was announced, they mobilized the people to donate land and trees to help the contractor speed up the progress. At this rate, the construction of the section through Thanh Van commune will be completed in about a week.

According to Mr. Le Sy Hai, Head of the Cam Thai Dike Management Unit, the construction of the access road is now over two-thirds complete. There are still some obstacles regarding land clearance in the section passing through Thanh Tuong commune. The unit and the construction company are actively coordinating with the district and commune to encourage residents to voluntarily dismantle structures and clear the land for the contractor.
Recognizing the importance of the dike system in flood control, the Project Management Board and the Nghe An Dike Management Sub-Department have regularly inspected and monitored the progress and quality of the project.
