Speeding up construction of Ta Lam dike road to protect more than 100,000 people
(Baonghean.vn) - The project to upgrade the Ta Lam dike in Thanh Van, Thanh Tuong, and Thanh Dong communes (Thanh Chuong district) is being accelerated to meet the peak of the flood season.
The project to upgrade the Ta Lam dyke line in Thanh Chuong district from K18 to K25+546.5, invested by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, is being built in the area of 3 communes of Thanh Van, Thanh Tuong and Thanh Dong. The main items are being accelerated to complete before the flood season.

The dike is protecting more than 102,500 people and 16,300 hectares of residential land, production land, and infrastructure in the project area. In addition, to upgrade the inter-commune traffic route in Thanh Chuong connecting with Nam Dan district to facilitate the exchange of agricultural products, develop tourism along the Lam River... the dike road is widened to 6.5m, with asphalt concrete structure.
To ensure higher flood protection, the project also includes upgrading the riverside dike, including Cam Thai 1 and 2 dike lines - where there are no more banks, the river edge has eroded to the foot of the dike, threatening the safety of the dike.
In addition, there is also a rescue route combining construction and operation management such as route No. 1, 361.94m long, starting from Rang town intersection (intersection with National Highway 46), connecting to the starting point of the dike at K18+00, asphalt concrete road structure; Route No. 2, 128.23m long, starting from Dung market intersection (intersection with National Highway 46), connecting and closing to the dike at post 9 (K24+946.74), asphalt concrete road structure.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Project Manager, representing the construction unit, the project started on October 1, 2016 with a commitment to complete after 29 months. These days, workers are focusing on ensuring the right progress, completing before May 30, 2018.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ngan - Chairman of Thanh Van Commune People's Committee said that the commune has a 4.5 km service road, so when the policy was issued, people were mobilized to donate land and trees to help the contractor speed up the progress. At this rate, the construction of the section through Thanh Van will be completed in about a week.

According to Mr. Le Sy Hai - Head of Cam Thai Dike Management Department, the construction of the access road has completed more than 2/3 of the work. There are still some problems with site clearance through Thanh Tuong commune. The Department and the construction unit are actively coordinating with the district and commune to propagate and mobilize people to voluntarily dismantle and clear the site to hand over to the construction contractor.
Recognizing the importance of the dike in flood and storm prevention, in recent times, the Project Management Board and Nghe An Dike Sub-Department have regularly inspected and urged the progress and quality of the project./.
