Strengthen the dissemination of information on the key contents and tasks of Nghe An province in implementing Resolution 39 of the Politburo.

On the morning of April 9th, the Provincial People's Committee held a press conference on the socio-economic, national defense, and security situation of the province in the first quarter of 2024. Mr. Bui Dinh Long, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, presided over the meeting.

Attending the press conference were representatives from the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Party Committee of the Provincial Agencies Bloc; leaders of departments, agencies and the People's Committees of Vinh City and Cua Lo Town; and representatives of news agencies in the area.

ECONOMIC GROWTH RATE IN THE FIRST QUARTER RANKS 21ST NATIONWIDE

Reporting on the socio-economic, national defense, and security situation of the province in the first quarter of 2024, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Phan Van HoanIt was stated that, despite numerous difficulties, the Provincial People's Committee, relevant departments, and localities have promptly, synchronously, and decisively implemented the assigned tasks and solutions. As a result, the province's socio-economic situation continues its positive recovery trend.

The province's GRDP growth rate in the first quarter reached 6.38%, ranking 21st nationwide and 3rd in the North Central region; of which the agricultural sector increased by 4.42%, the industrial and construction sector increased by 9.15%; and the service sector increased by 5.12%.

In agricultural production, the planted area for the winter and spring crops increased compared to the same period last year. The industrial production index maintained its growth momentum, estimated to increase by 8.07% compared to the same period. Total merchandise exports are estimated at 636.2 million USD, an increase of 21.8%.

Revenue collection in the province exceeded targets, with an estimated 5,904 billion VND collected in the first quarter, reaching 37.1% of the projected budget. Thanks to decisive measures implemented from the beginning of the year, as of March 31st, the province's centrally managed public investment capital had disbursed over 708 billion VND, reaching 15.3%, 7.01% higher than the same period last year.

International cooperation and integration activities were actively organized by the province. In the first quarter, the province granted licenses for 19 new projects and adjusted 42 projects with a total capital of over 14,814 billion VND. Compared to the same period in 2023, the total newly granted investment capital increased 2.26 times.

Cultural and social fields received attention; administrative reforms continued to be promoted; national defense and security, and social order and safety were ensured.

At the press conference, leaders of departments and agencies answered questions from journalists and reporters regarding several apartment buildings that had not yet completed the acceptance testing process despite residents having moved in; and the handling of construction projects overlapping with the planning of businesses' land in Cua Lo town.

The responsibilities of relevant sectors regarding the deaths of many workers due to pneumoconiosis at Chau Tien Co., Ltd.; solutions to reduce pressure on 10th grade enrollment; clarification of the proposal to collect parking fees for cars on roads and sidewalks; investigation results of the case where a customs officer smashed a car window after a traffic accident; results of asset verification of 12 officials from the Department of Finance and the People's Committee of Nghi Loc district...

FOCUS ON PUBLISHING KEY CONTENTS AND TASKS OF THE PROVINCE

After the departments and agencies answered questions from representatives of the press, concluding the press conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long emphasized that in the first quarter, the press agencies devoted a lot of time to publicizing activities celebrating the Party and the Lunar New Year; summarizing and evaluating major political events in the province in 2023.

Press agencies have focused on creating news articles, programs, and special features emphasizing that 2024 is a pivotal year for implementing the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress and the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; building on the achievements gained, continuing to uphold the spirit of unity, and striving to successfully complete the goals and tasks of 2024.

The representative offices and resident reporters of central and provincial press agencies have effectively implemented the regulations on press briefings and the propaganda guidelines of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and the Department of Information and Communications. Information disseminated by press agencies has generally ensured adherence to propaganda guidelines, with content covering all fields.

Nevertheless, the number of articles promoting the image of Nghe An's homeland and people in the publications of media agencies is still small and not truly commensurate. Some reporters are not operating in accordance with the principles and objectives of the media agencies they work for.

Entering the second quarter of 2024, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long requested that media agencies focus on publicizing the province's key contents and tasks, including: implementing the Action Program to implement Resolution No. 39 of the Politburo; implementing the Provincial Planning; finalizing the Project on rearranging administrative units at the district and commune levels in the 2023-2025 period, the Project on expanding the administrative boundaries and urban space of Vinh City, and the Project on expanding the Southeast Economic Zone.

In addition, the press focused on publicizing major holidays throughout the year, cultural and tourism activities; especially providing full information and guiding public opinion on the organization, installation, and inauguration of the VI Lenin statue in Vinh City; and promptly disseminating information on the leadership, direction, and management of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee regarding outstanding results in the socio-economic situation.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee decided to award Certificates of Commendation to 4 press agencies, representative offices, and 4 reporters for their outstanding achievements in promoting the "Tet for the Poor - Spring of the Year of the Dragon" program in 2024 and charitable activities in 2023.
