Crushing Lille, Monaco catches up with PSG
In the early morning of September 23, champion Monaco continued their impressive form when they defeated Lille with a score of 4-0 away in the early match of round 7 of the French Championship (Ligue 1).

In this match, Monaco only had half the ball possession as Lille (Monaco had 36%), but with a reasonable defensive counter-attacking style, coach Leonardo Jardim's students easily scored 4 goals against the home team. Monaco's hero in the victory over Lille was striker Radamel Falcao with two goals in the 49th and 88th minutes.
Earlier, rookie Stevan Jovetic opened the scoring for Monaco in the 24th minute and Rachid Ghezzal increased the score to 2-0 in the 30th minute. With this win, Monaco has caught up with PSG at the top of the rankings with 18 points, but has played one more match than its opponent.
