Monaco crushed Lille, catching up with PSG.

In the early hours of September 23rd, champions Monaco continued their impressive run of form by defeating Lille 4-0 away from home in the early match of Round 7 of the French Championship (Ligue 1).

In this match, Monaco only had half the possession of Lille (Monaco had 36%), but with a well-executed counter-attacking strategy, coach Leonardo Jardim's players easily scored four goals against the home team. The hero for Monaco in their victory over Lille was striker Radamel Falcao with two goals in the 49th and 88th minutes.

Earlier, new signing Stevan Jovetic opened the scoring for Monaco in the 24th minute, and Rachid Ghezzal extended the lead to 2-0 in the 30th minute. With this win, Monaco caught up with PSG at the top of the league table with 18 points, but having played one more game than their rivals.
