(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of April 14, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) branch in Nghe An coordinated with the Embassy of South Africa to organize a South Africa - Vietnam Trade, Investment and Tourism Promotion Conference in Vinh City.
Attending the workshop were Ms. Kgomotso Ruth Magau - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa, Mr. Doan Duy Khuong - Vice President of VCCI, Mr. Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors and many businesses interested in exploring cooperation opportunities with South Africa.

South Africa is a country with favorable natural conditions, modern technical infrastructure and is considered the gateway to Africa. In the past 10 years, Vietnam - South Africa trade turnover increased 5 times, reaching 1.2 billion USD in 2015. The prospects for cooperation between the two countries are very large, the other side has a need to import many key products of Vietnam such as agricultural products, handicrafts, garments, construction materials, etc. On the contrary, South Africa is a potential market to supply our country with iron and steel, metals, wood, cotton, fertilizers, etc.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that in recent years, Nghe An has emerged as a destination for foreign investors, attracting many large corporations and enterprises to consider investment opportunities in the province, which is a driving force and a breakthrough nucleus for Nghe An in the coming years. There are many untapped cooperation potentials between Nghe An and South Africa, the trade turnover between the two sides in 2015 only reached nearly 150,000 USD, no goods were imported from South Africa.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that the Workshop is a valuable opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises in general and Nghe An in particular to better understand the South African market, for the two sides to connect information and cooperate to exploit each other's potential and strengths, thereby contributing to strengthening and expanding cooperation in trade, tourism, culture, education and training, etc.

Within the framework of the Workshop, representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa provided delegates with an overview of South Africa, parameters on trade activities, the attractiveness of investment opportunities and incentives when investing in South Africa.
The representative of the Department of Industry and Trade pointed out the trade and tourism potential in Nghe An, with its rich natural resources and culture imbued with national identity, which is attractive in the eyes of foreign investors and tourists./.
