The math problem was long but not too difficult.
(Baonghean.vn) - This afternoon, candidates completed the Mathematics exam - the second subject of the National High School Graduation Examination. Although this is the first year the exam is in multiple-choice format, candidates are quite enthusiastic about the new format.
Phan Van Quyen (Tay Hieu commune - Thai Hoa town) is one of the independent candidates at the exam center of Thai Hoa High School. Last year, Quyen took the A-block exam and scored 8.25 in Mathematics. This year, Quyen is applying to the Army Officer School 1 again, so Mathematics remains one of the three important subjects for admission. Leaving the exam room, Quyen said: "The exam had 50 questions, I answered about 40 correctly, and guessed the remaining 10. In my opinion, this year's exam wasn't too difficult; if you're a good student, you can score 7-8 points. However, the differentiating questions were very difficult, especially the geometry questions."
According to Quynh, taking the multiple-choice test is quite good, requiring high concentration from the candidates. However, it would be better if the time allotted for the test were longer. In reality, with 90 minutes, it's difficult to complete the entire test. For the Math subject, Quyen also hopes to achieve a score equal to or higher than last year.

At the Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted exam center, Pham Thi Thuong Hoai, a student in class 12D1 at Huynh Thuc Khang High School, said she did quite well on the exam. Of the 50 questions, she found the practical problems involving distance and coordinate systems the most difficult. "I finished just in time and I think my score will be around 9 points," Thuong Hoai said.

According to Nguyen Phuong Nguyen, a student in class 12C5 at Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School, this year's math exam was easy, and she had plenty of time left over. "There were a few questions about logarithms that I couldn't solve. I think I scored above 9."

After the 90-minute exam, many candidates lingered at the school to compare their papers and check for similarities between the different sets of questions. According to the candidates' assessments, the percentage of similar questions was only 15%, mainly concentrated in the easy questions.
Nguyen Phu Cam, a student in class 12C1 at Thai Hoa High School, is also a good student with an average math score of 8.5. Having completed about 80% of the exam, Cam was quite satisfied with his performance. He also said that this year's exam wasn't too difficult, with many questions closely following the sample exam. The exam also had a high level of differentiation, especially questions 42 and above.
Many candidates also affirmed that taking the multiple-choice math exam was quite interesting, with the questions covering the entire curriculum. In particular, this year's exam included nearly 10 questions where candidates could use a calculator to find the answers immediately, easily achieving a passing grade and avoiding failing marks.
However, accurately assessing the scores remains quite difficult. In reality, many candidates claim to have completed the entire exam, but answer many questions by chance.

Nguyen Cao Sang, the first candidate to complete the Math exam at Huynh Thuc Khang High School (Vinh City), said: "Before the Math exam, I was quite worried, but after finishing, I felt reassured by my results. I'm confident I'll get 8 points. This year's Math exam had a high degree of differentiation. It was easy for candidates to get a 7, but getting an 8 or higher was quite difficult. The exam started to clearly differentiate from question 35/50 onwards."
Candidate Ha Kieu Trinh shared: "The difficulty of the math exam is equivalent to the difficulty of the third sample exam. With this exam, getting a 7 is easy, but getting an 8 requires certain skills. I did my best, there were 10 questions I was unsure about, I expect to get 8 points." Candidates said that with 24 different exam codes, each candidate took a different exam. Therefore, in the exam room, people couldn't exchange answers or look at each other's papers. Everyone in the exam room focused on their work and was very serious.
