The math exam was of moderate difficulty, and candidates hope their scores will improve.

The male student shared that the Math exam had 5 questions. He had no difficulty finding the answers to questions 1, 2, and 3 (algebra) and question 4a (geometry). However, he struggled with part 2 of question 4b and question 4c, and was not satisfied with his work. He found the final question, 5 (arithmetic), worth 0.5 points, particularly challenging and was unable to solve it by the end of the exam. He predicted that with luck and if all the points were awarded, he would get 8-8.5 points.

Mai Hoang Thuong (a student from Truong Thi Secondary School) also predicted she would get 8 points in Math, but she was still a little disappointed because it wasn't as good as she had hoped.

“In my opinion, this year's Math exam was easier than last year's and even easier than the mock exam. Therefore, a score of 9 this year would be equivalent to an 8 last year. Meanwhile, the admission score for Huynh Thuc Khang High School is quite high, averaging 8 points per subject to be considered secure. Yesterday, I didn't do very well on the Literature exam, but I scored around 9 points or more in English. With these results, I will think about it, consider it, and consult with my teachers to see if I should change my application,” Thuong shared.

Meanwhile, Tran Dinh Sang (Hung Dung Secondary School) was excited and confident that he would score above 9 points, and if lucky, even 9.5 points. He said that the most difficult question in the exam was question 5, which he couldn't solve but still wrote down his solution steps in his answer sheet. He completed questions 1 to 4. This year's exam wasn't necessarily easier than last year's, but he felt confident in his work. In particular, question 4c in geometry took him a bit longer because it was difficult to figure out the solution despite having basic knowledge. After calmly reading the question and the diagram carefully, he was able to solve it.

Commenting on the Math exam, teacher Tran Son Hong - a teacher at Dang Thai Mai Secondary School (Vinh City) said: The exam followed the structure of the exam in Official Document No. 656/SGD&ĐT-GDTrH dated March 30, 2023, from the Department of Education and Training. In particular, the basic part of the exam was quite easy, clearly and concisely expressed.

The exam is highly differentiated and not overly difficult in the more advanced application questions. The differentiating questions include question 2b, calculating the value of an expression containing the roots of a quadratic equation. This requires the use of reduction techniques. Question 4, starting from part 2 of question b, requires students to effectively use various thinking techniques, especially using upward analysis diagrams and constructing equivalent propositions. For question 5, above-average students can earn points, while excellent students will have a chance to score a perfect 10.

Based on this year's exam, teacher Nguyen Son Hong predicts that the score distribution will be high, and the number of scores of 9 or higher will be greater than in previous years.

According to reporters' observations at the 1/5 High School and Thai Hoa High School examination sites, the atmosphere was serious and orderly. Police officers and traffic police were deployed to ensure security, order, and traffic safety from the outer perimeter. Although the Mathematics exam was scheduled to end at 10:00 AM, some candidates at the examination sites had already left before the deadline.

Candidate Le Anh Hung from Nghia Thuan Secondary School (Thai Hoa Town) said that before participating in this exam, he had solved past exam papers. According to him, the Math exam showed a clear differentiation in difficulty levels. However, students who had reviewed and grasped the basic knowledge could easily achieve an average score.

"I think I got about 80% on this exam. The geometry section was the most difficult, so I'm not very confident about that," Hung commented.

Nguyen Thi Ha, a student from Nghia Phu Secondary School (Nghia Dan district), who also registered to take the exam at 1/5 High School, expressed her worries: “I studied Math well and finished the exam 30 minutes early, but I still couldn't complete all the parts related to the geometry question. I was able to answer all the other questions correctly. I think I'll get around 8 points.”

Commenting on the Mathematics exam for the 10th grade entrance exam, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong - a teacher at Quang Tien Secondary School (Thai Hoa Town) - remarked: The exam structure remains the same as in previous years, consisting of 5 questions revolving around familiar knowledge units. All knowledge units are within the students' curriculum, with practical problems and applications designed to develop students' abilities.

In Anh Son district, student Nguyen Thi Linh, who registered to take the exam at Anh Son 1 High School, said: "I found that this year's math exam mainly covered the curriculum we studied and reviewed. The basic questions were suitable for students with average to above-average abilities. The last questions were more advanced, designed to differentiate candidates. To answer these questions, candidates needed a solid grasp of both theoretical and advanced knowledge. Personally, I'm confident I'll score above 7 points in math, because the exam was similar to the practice exams my teachers prepared for me at school."

Nguyen Thi Hien, a student taking the exam at Anh Son 3 High School, shared: "I'm not too worried about the Math score because it's my strong subject. The exam had 5 questions, and I found that from question number 4 onwards, the geometry section, it was more challenging, allowing candidates to achieve high scores. Those questions were easy to answer but required careful consideration and thorough reading. I spent about 100 minutes on the exam and 20 minutes checking my answers. I hope to get an 8 in Math."

At the exam center at Thanh Chuong 1 High School, Phan Duy Ngoc Minh, a 9th-grade student from Thanh Phong Secondary School, shared: "I found the Math exam questions closely followed the high school curriculum and had a moderate difficulty level. I think I answered about 80% correctly. I think my score is around 7.5 points."

Tran Huu Hoang, a 9th-grade student from Ton Quang Phiệt Secondary School and a top student in Mathematics at the provincial level, was particularly excited because he completed the exam quite well. According to Hoang, he expects to get 9 points. "I'm very happy because I did well on all three exams. After this exam, I will continue to take the exam at Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School," Hoang said.

After the Math exam ended, students in Do Luong left the exam site under the scorching sun. However, many still lingered to discuss their answers with their classmates.

Nguyen Huu Quang Minh, a student from Vo Thi Sau Secondary School, happily said: "This year's math exam was relatively difficult, but I completed almost all of it, only managing to finish half of question 4."

Standing with her friends in the shade of a tree to avoid the sun, Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang, a student from Xuan Son Secondary School, said: "I've done up to question 4a, but I'm not very sure. My classmates in the room have managed to do up to question 4b."

Based on the information gathered, most of the high-achieving students completed the entire exam, particularly students from Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School. Nguyen Minh Quan, a student from Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School, commented: "This year's exam had easy questions: 1a, 2a, 1b, 1c, 3a, 3b, 4a, and 2b."

Most candidates left the exam center at Quy Hop High School in high spirits. Candidate Dang Tien Dung (a student from Quy Hop Town Junior High School) said: “This year's math exam was manageable for us, covering basic knowledge that our teachers had thoroughly reviewed. I completed most of the questions and took time to check my answers. I believe I can achieve a score of 7.5-8 points.”

Also leaving with a bright smile, candidate Nguyen Sy Bang (a student from Chau Quang Secondary School) shared, "This year's math exam wasn't too difficult, only question 4b in geometry and question 5 were a bit challenging for me. But I'm still confident I'll get an 8."

With a touch of regret, contestant Nguyen Quang Dung from Chau Quang Secondary School said he made a slight mistake in the practical geometry problem in question 4. He hoped to achieve a score of 7 in Mathematics.

Overall, the candidates shared the same opinion that the Math exam was of moderate difficulty, with many predicting high scores on this test. Many parents were delighted to see their children finish the exam feeling relaxed and comfortable.

Regarding the exam, teacher Hoang Thi Anh Dao, from the Mathematics Department of Quy Hop Town Secondary School, commented, "The exam structure is stable compared to previous years, consisting of 5 questions. Students were not surprised by the math exam."

The exam is in line with the Department's structure and the review materials provided by teachers. Furthermore, this year's exam includes an additional practical geometry question, and it's not too difficult for students to score points on this question. This year, the point value for the final question has decreased, so average and above-average students will have a better chance of earning more points compared to previous years.”

At the High SchoolCon CuongOn the final day of the exam, the weather was quite favorable for the candidates as the sun was no longer scorching. Stepping out of the exam room, the candidates felt quite relieved to have completed the 10th grade entrance exam. However, alongside that relief, the pressure of the entrance exam also caused many candidates to feel anxious.

Luong Thuy Dung, a student from Mau Don Secondary School, said: "The math exam this morning was of moderate difficulty for me. Just glancing at the exam paper, I felt it would be easy to solve. Of the five questions, I found the first four easy, while the last one was the most difficult. Overall, the exam was quite close to the high school curriculum. If you have a solid grasp of the material, you can do well and get a good score. With my current level of knowledge, I was able to complete almost all of them."

Having completed the Math exam, Dung predicted she would score 7 points. With this score and her efforts in the previous subjects, Dung hopes to pass the entrance exam for 10th grade.

Also leaving the exam site, Luong Van Thanh, a student from Yen Khe Secondary School, shared: "I studied thoroughly, but I didn't do very well on the exam. After finishing the Math exam, I feel less stressed. I think I will pass the entrance exam."10th gradebut the results weren't great.

Thus, after nearly two days of exams, almost 39,000 candidates in Nghe An have completed the 10th grade entrance exam. According to the new regulations for this year's exam, after completing the three subjects, the admissions system will open for candidates to change their application preferences for high schools, vocational education centers, and continuing education centers for four days from June 7th to June 10th, 2023, so that candidates can change their preferences online.

According to a report from the Department of Education and Training, 38,948 candidates registered to take the 10th grade entrance exam over the two days throughout the province. 87 candidates were absent.

This year's exam saw four candidates violate exam regulations for the same reason: bringing mobile phones into the exam room. These candidates were from the exam centers at Quynh Luu 1 High School, Dang Thai Mai High School, and two candidates from Le Viet Thuat High School.

No invigilators violated exam regulations, and no other unusual incidents occurred. The exam proceeded normally, safely, and in accordance with regulations.

According to the plan of the Department of Education and Training, the results of the exam will be announced on June 18th.
