Culture as the foundation, information as the conduit, sports as the driving force, and tourism as the connecting bridge.
This was the determination of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the conference summarizing the work of 2025 and implementing tasks for 2026, held on the afternoon of January 5, 2026.
Attending the conference was Comrade Thai Van Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
Comrade Tran Thi My Hanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism - chaired the meeting. Representatives from relevant departments and agencies also attended.
Completed and exceeded many targets.
In 2025, the entire Culture, Sports and Tourism sector closely followed the direction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Provincial Party Committee, and the Provincial People's Committee, proactively concretizing it into programs and plans and organizing their synchronized implementation. State management of cultural, sports, and tourism activities and services was carried out regularly; the implementation of resolutions, schemes, and projects on cultural heritage achieved many positive results.
Activities related to heritage inventory, classification, restoration, preservation, protection, and promotion of heritage values have received attention; cultural and spiritual activities at historical sites associated with the New Year festival have been organized safely and in a civilized manner. Propaganda and promotion efforts serving political objectives have been intensified through various forms, contributing to social consensus and promoting the socio-economic development of the province.
In the tourism sector, it is projected that by 2025, the entire industry will welcome and serve 9.9 million visitors, reaching 105% of the 2024 target; of which, the number of overnight visitors is estimated at 6.22 million, and the number of international visitors is estimated at 135,000. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at 30,600 billion VND, of which tourism revenue will reach 11,921 billion VND, an increase of 107% compared to the same period, fulfilling the set plan targets.
The field of physical education and sports continues to achieve positive results. The percentage of people regularly participating in physical exercise and sports reached 37%, and the percentage of families involved in sports reached 26%; the entire province has 1,075 sports clubs, and 100% of schools ensure physical education.
High-performance sports are being directed towards rebuilding key disciplines. By November 24, 2025, the province's teams participated in 96 national and international competitions, winning 538 medals of all kinds (157 gold, 153 silver, and 229 bronze). Nghe An had 6 athletes participating in the national teams at the 33rd SEA Games, winning 1 silver and 1 bronze medal in Jujitsu.
Youth football continued to make its mark with achievements: U13 won a silver medal; U15 and U9 won bronze medals; U17 reached the final round of the National Championship; U19 Song Lam Nghe An won a silver medal. Ten athletes were called up to the U16, U17, U23 and the Vietnam national team.
Promoting the role of culture as the spiritual foundation of society.
Besides the achievements, the Culture, Sports, and Tourism sector also faces many difficulties. Along with objective challenges, subjective difficulties also hinder cultural, sports, and tourism activities. For example, the current infrastructure and equipment for cultural and sports activities are insufficient and outdated; some sports do not meet the conditions for training and organizing national-level competitions. Following the merger and operation of the two-tiered government model, professional work in some localities still faces obstacles; funding is limited while the workload is increasing.
In his directive speech at the conference, Comrade Thai Van Thanh requested that the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector continue to focus on preserving and promoting cultural values; building a healthy cultural environment, and improving the spiritual life of the people.
At the same time, we will continue to promote the movement "All people practice physical training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh"; advise on the successful organization of the Sports and Physical Education Congress at all levels; prepare well the force of coaches and athletes to participate in major tournaments, maintaining Nghe An's position in high-performance sports.
In the field of tourism, he emphasized the continued effective implementation of the Nghe An Tourism Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045; the industry needs to promote the value of heritage sites and scenic spots, build distinctive tourism products, and adapt to the trends of cultural industry and digital transformation.
“Hopefully, the ‘cultural warriors’ of our province will continue to maintain the flame of passion, the spirit of dedication, and the aspiration for innovation, promoting the role of culture as the spiritual foundation of society; promoting the sporting spirit of the people of Nghe An; developing scenic heritage to build smart tourism and create distinctive tourism products. At the same time, proactively adapt and grasp the trends of the cultural industry in the digital age, the 4.0 era; contributing to building the image of Nghe An as a dynamic, distinctive, and deeply integrated province,” Comrade Thai Van Thanh emphasized.
On this occasion, four individuals were awarded Certificates of Commendation by the Prime Minister; the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism received a Certificate of Commendation from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
