Teacher Tran Giang Tuan Tu – a young teacher born in 2003, who directly participated in and accompanied the FPT School team in the 2026 Nghe Tinh Folk Song Talent Search Competition – shared passionately: "At FPT School Vinh, modernity does not mean separating from our roots, but rather having the confidence to carry our national identity out into the world. Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Nhung, mother of Tran Ngoc Khanh Vy (3rd grade), expressed: "I truly appreciate the school bringing the Vi and Giam folk songs closer to the students. This not only helps the children understand their homeland's culture but also instills in them a sense of pride in their roots. Alongside other modern schools, Huynh Thuc Khang High School – a school with a long and distinguished tradition in Nghe An province – is also demonstrating its enduring vitality through its well-structured folk music club. According to Mr. Phan Xuan Hoai Linh, the school's Youth Union Secretary, keeping the flame of heritage alive begins with cherishing passionate "core individuals." He affirms: "The most important thing is to have a 'source' – students who are passionate and talented. Once we have this source, we will create a platform for them to develop their abilities and attract the attention of others."

This tradition wasn't built overnight; it's been nurtured for over 10 years. Most recently, the school officially established the Ví, Giặm Folk Song Club, even inviting artists and professional teachers to create a well-structured theatrical program so that students can access this heritage in the most professional way. This effort has connected outstanding individuals such as Bạch Khánh Linh, Nguyễn Khánh Vy, and Bùi Thị Phương Trang... At the 2026 Ví, Giặm Folk Song Talent Search competition in Nghệ Tĩnh, Khánh Linh, Khánh Vy, and Phương Trang formed the Búp Sen Xanh group to participate.

The 2026 Nghe Tinh Folk Song Talent Search Competition is the ideal stage for a school-based folk song model. With 175 applications, the Organizing Committee not only seeks talented singers but also implements the National Action Program on Heritage Preservation. Mr. Tran Quoc Chung - Director of the Provincial Traditional Arts Center shared: The fact that two groups of contestants representing schools made it into the top 30 roundfinal roundThis is a positive sign. It proves that when schools proactively build a suitable cultural "ecosystem," Ví and Giặm folk songs will naturally permeate the hearts of the younger generation.

The aspiration to "shine alongside heritage"

For the Green Lotus Buds group, their love for Ví and Giặm folk songs is not a fleeting choice but a strong bond that has lasted for over a decade. The three members, Bạch Khánh Linh, Nguyễn Khánh Vy, and Bùi Thị Phương Trang, have been active together for over 10 years at the Blue Bird Club (Viet Duc Children's Cultural Center) and were once promising talents in the Green Buds Ví and Giặm group led by People's Artist Hồng Lựu. In particular, Nguyễn Khánh Vy (11th grade, Huỳnh Thúc Kháng High School) was taught folk songs by her grandmother from the age of three, receiving her first lessons about parental love and gratitude. Despite having competed in major competitions like The Voice Kids Vietnam 2019, Vy still affirms: "I still love Ví and Giặm folk songs the most. I want to spread the heritage of my homeland with my friends, especially to children outside the province."

The journey from the classroom to the big stage is not a bed of roses. To achieve polished performances, the members of the Green Lotus Buds group have had to work extra hard to balance their academic studies and their passion for art. Ms. Phan Thi Thu Ha (parent of Phuong Trang) shared: "During rehearsals, the children have to squeeze in time to practice, divide the lines, and practice online, only meeting each other during the dress rehearsal. Many nights, they have to stay up late to study and perform at the same time."

Behind these efforts lies the tireless support of mothers and fathers – those who are willing to drive their children to distant performances, not for the sake of awards, but because of their belief that folk music will help their children grow and mature.

At FPT School Vinh, the members impressed with their age diversity, ranging from grade 3 to grade 10. Under the guidance of teacher Tran Giang Tuan Tu, they demonstrated that modern students have a very unique way of appreciating heritage. Teacher Tu shared: "Initially, the children were a little hesitant because they were unfamiliar with it, but when they truly experienced each folk melody, they quickly caught on and had a very fresh and individualistic way of feeling it, while still preserving the subtlety."

Accompanying her child and the school, Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Nhung (parent of Khanh Vy, FPT School) believes: "When education is linked to traditional culture, children will not only grow up knowledgeable but also develop a heart that loves their homeland."

The core value of introducing folk songs into schools is teaching moral values ​​through art. As teacher Tuan Tu affirms, through each folk song and dance, students learn patience, gratitude, and teamwork.
