Colonel Tran Minh Tuan, Political Commissar of Military Hospital 4, has led numerous delegations of military medical personnel to remote areas to provide healthcare for the local people as part of the military-civilian medical cooperation program. For him, each trip is filled with emotion because Military Hospital 4 has provided examinations, treatment, and gifts to help many patients overcome their suffering, and alleviate some of the difficulties faced by many people.

Mr. Xong A Mong, from Xieng Xi village, Na Ngoi commune, shared: "All eight members of my family have illnesses, but we don't have the money to go to the district hospital for examination. Luckily, the military doctors came to examine us, give us medicine, and even give us gifts. In the commune, several people even received free cataract surgery from Military Hospital 4..."

The doctors and nurses at the hospital always uphold a strong sense of responsibility for the lives and health of the people. Some spend an entire year collecting clothes and books as gifts, while others donate up to 5 million VND per trip. When organizing medical teams, the hospital always sends its most skilled and experienced department heads to serve. For each patient the hospital doctors and nurses visit, their phone numbers are obtained for contact and to inquire about their condition. For those with serious illnesses, the hospital even provides gifts and financial assistance for food, accommodation, and transportation when they come to the hospital for treatment…

In addition to organizing medical teams to visit localities to provide free medical examinations, distribute free medicine, and give gifts, Military Hospital 4 also directly performs humanitarian eye surgeries for children with eye defects such as ptosis and strabismus, ensuring safety and restoring smiles, eyesight, light, and aesthetics to help them integrate into society.

Over the 10 years from 2006 to 2015, the hospital provided eye examinations and consultations for over 1,000 children, and performed cataract surgery on 950 children, with a total cost exceeding 1 billion VND…

Colonel Tran Minh Tuan, Political Commissar of Military Hospital 4, added: "For the sake of public health, every year the hospital actively participates in supporting and assisting localities in fulfilling criteria for ensuring healthcare, such as donating medical supplies, equipment, and instruments to health stations in communes like Hung Loc (Vinh City), Cat Van (Thanh Chuong), and Nam Can (Ky Son)..."

Not only does the hospital successfully implement the military-civilian medical cooperation program domestically, but it also effectively carries out international missions, providing free medical examinations, treatment, health consultations, and medication to people in the Vietnam-Laos border region.

In addition to saving lives, each doctor and medical professional also effectively carries out the Party's mass mobilization tasks, contributing to building a national defense system and developing human resources to meet the requirements of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
