Foreign Trade University announces new features to be applied for the first time in the 2026 admissions process.
Representatives from the Foreign Trade University provided information on new features being applied for the first time in the 2026 admissions season and offered advice and insights to candidates and parents.
At the 2026 Admissions Fair of the Foreign Trade University held on the morning of March 29th, Ms. Pham Thanh Ha, Deputy Head of the Training Management Department of the Foreign Trade University, stated that in 2026, the university will recruit students for 28 majors with 41 training programs and has a total expected enrollment of 4550 (an increase of 390 compared to 2025).
Ten new training programs have been added.
This year, the university is opening 10 new training programs, developing 3 programs from existing ones, and launching one new training program from the Business Administration major.
This year, the school is recruiting students through four methods: direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; admission based on high school academic results; admission based on the results of the 2026 high school graduation exam; and admission based on domestic and international competency assessment certificates.

In particular, regarding the direct admission method, a new feature this year is that the school has expanded the eligibility criteria to include students who have won national-level awards. Specifically, candidates who have won at least a third prize in the national excellent student selection exam in subjects within the school's admission subject combination (including Mathematics, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, English, French, Chinese, and Japanese) will be considered for direct admission to the training programs (taking into account the quota of each training program and the type of award).
Specifically for the international career-oriented program in Creative Business and Cultural Industries, the school is expanding its admissions to include candidates who have won official awards in international art competitions in singing, dancing, music, and fine arts recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (and have graduated from high school); the time elapsed since winning the award must not exceed 4 years from the time of direct admission consideration.
Candidates who win prizes in this year's national and international science and technology competitions will only be given priority in the admissions process, meaning they will receive bonus points but will not be directly admitted to the university.
Regarding the admission method using domestic and international competency assessment certificates, Ms. Ha stated that this year marks the first time the university is using the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's Competency Assessment Certificate (for admission to technology-related programs including Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science). In addition, the Foreign Trade University also accepts A-Level certificates. Specifically, candidates applying with A-Level certificates who took the exam in June 2026 can submit their A-Level Predicted Grades for provisional admission. Candidates are required to submit their official A-Level certificates to the Ministry of Education and Training's system before the admission deadline to be eligible for consideration.
For the high-quality Chinese Language program, applicants this year using international language certificates must not only possess an HSK certificate but also meet the corresponding HSKK (valid speaking skills) requirements at the same level, issued by the China Language Exchange Center (CLEC) (online HSK certificates taken at home are not accepted). Specifically, HSK 4 must have a score of 280/300 or higher and HSKK Intermediate must have a score of 60/100 or higher; HSK 5 must meet the requirements and HSKK Advanced must have a score of 60/100 or higher; HSK 6 must meet the requirements and HSKK Advanced must have a score of 60/100 or higher.
Find the most suitable path.
Associate Professor Pham Thu Huong, Rector of the Foreign Trade University, stated that technology, artificial intelligence, and the constant shifts in the global economy are changing the way we learn, work, and connect. Therefore, today's professions may be very different in the next 5-10 years. But it is precisely in this change that opportunities are more abundant than ever – for those who are ready to adapt, learn, and excel.

"Each student is a unique individual. There is no single path to success, and no one-size-fits-all model. The important thing is not for them to become the best, but to find the path that best suits them. That is the path where they can develop their abilities, nurture their passions, and pursue their aspirations," Ms. Huong said.
Ms. Huong also advised the 12th-grade students that what's important isn't making a perfect decision right from the start, but rather persevering and being able to adjust when necessary.

At the event, 12th-grade students had their questions answered and gained a deeper understanding of the training program and new features in the admission process of the Foreign Trade University. In particular, the university also organized a 60-minute experience for students to try "A Day as a Foreign Trade University Student," allowing them to experience the open, flexible, and diverse learning environment through various experiential classrooms.
