Previously, on September 2nd, while singing at a karaoke bar on Mai Hac De Street (Vinh City), Cao Anh Tu got into a conflict with another group of singers and used a knife to seriously injure Bui Cong Hieu (born in 1984, residing in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City), causing 24% health damage, and Le Xuan Phuong (born in 1972, residing in Doi Cung Ward, Vinh City), causing 76% health damage.

After committing the crime, Tu fled the area and was issued an arrest warrant by the Vinh City Police for "intentional infliction of injury". Through his social connections, Tu escaped to Ho Chi Minh City, then to Hanoi and Thanh Hoa. However, Tu's whereabouts were quickly tracked down by detectives from the Criminal Fugitive Apprehension Department of the Provincial Police.
Using professional investigative techniques, at approximately 7:30 PM on November 23rd, police officers raided the house of Tú's friend in Lam Son Ward, Thanh Hoa City, and apprehended Tú.
The evidence seized at the scene included a knife and a mobile phone that Tú had hidden in his clothing pocket. Immediately afterward, Cao Anh Tú was escorted to the Lam Son Ward Police Station (Thanh Hoa City) for questioning and then transferred to Nghe An to be handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department of Vinh City Police for further investigation and processing.
