Three female students who went volunteering were swept away by floods and are now missing.

During a volunteer trip, four students slipped and fell into the river, and three of the female students were swept away by the flood and went missing.

At approximately 5 PM yesterday (July 2nd), at the spillway near Pac Hooc Bridge, Binh Lieu town, Binh Lieu district (Quang Ninh province), four students from Hanoi Foreign Trade University were swept away by floodwaters while doing volunteer work.

According to students in the group, while traveling, the school's volunteer students waded through a fast-flowing stream. At the same time, a flood swept through, carrying away all four female students. One student was rescued, but the other three are still missing.

Speaking to reporters that evening, Mr. Mai Vu Tuan, Secretary of the Binh Lieu District Party Committee (Quang Ninh province), confirmed that three volunteer students had been swept away by floods in the area and had not yet been found. The identities of the three female students swept away by the flood are Vu Thi Xoa (born 1996, from Hai Duong province); Nguyen Thi Hai (born 1997, from Nghe An province); and Nguyen Thi Ngan (born 1997, from Hanoi province).

Upon receiving the report, Mr. Vu Van Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with representatives from the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Police, the Provincial Department of Health, and the Provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, coordinated with the functional forces of Binh Lieu district to immediately conduct search and rescue operations. As of 11:30 PM on the same day, rescue efforts were being carried out urgently.

Despite being busy organizing the National High School Graduation Examination, the leaders of the Foreign Trade University returned to the locality to assess the situation. They also contacted the families of the three missing students and brought them to the scene.

Earlier, on June 21st, in Hanoi, the Youth Union of the Foreign Trade University organized the launching ceremony for the 2016 Green Summer Campaign. This is an annual activity of the Foreign Trade University's Youth Union, attracting widespread interest from lecturers and students.
