Car rental services during peak season

Vinh City currently has over 20 establishments offering self-drive car rental services, concentrated on major roads such as Nguyen Sy Sach, Nguyen Phong Sac, Le Hong Phong, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Le Loi, etc. On average, each establishment has 10-20 cars depending on the type, with larger establishments having over 30 cars for rent.

Walking around the streets of Vinh City, it's easy to spot cars parked along the roadside with signs that read "self-drive car rental" displayed on their sides. By simply calling the number listed on the advertisement, people can rent a car to meet their transportation needs.

Mr. Long, the director of a car rental company on Nguyen Sy Sach Street in Vinh City, shared: "We currently have 47 cars for rent, but 43 have already been rented out. At the end of each year, the number of cars in the lot is almost nonexistent because they are all rented out by people for their family's transportation needs."

The peak season for this service is usually during holidays, summer vacations, and especially the end of the year, when the demand for weddings, visits, and Tet holiday trips increases, coupled with cold weather, making car rental for these trips a top choice for families.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh from Dien Chau district shared: "My family is large, so when we have weddings of relatives who live far away, we usually rent a car to go. We only rent it occasionally, not frequently, so the cost is acceptable."

It is known that car rental prices mainly depend on the car brand, the number of seats, and the time of year. For self-drive rentals, a 4-seater car costs between 500,000 VND and 1 million VND per day; a 7-seater car costs between 700,000 VND and 1.3 million VND per day (depending on the car model).

However, these are the prices on normal days; prices will increase significantly before and after the Lunar New Year.

Currently, the mandatory requirements for those renting a car are a driver's license, an identity card or household registration book, and valuable collateral.

Ms. Thuy, a car rental owner on Nguyen Thai Hoc Street in Vinh City, said: "To avoid risks during the rental process, before receiving the car, the staff and the customer will check the car's condition, fuel level, and take photos. When returning the car, both parties will compare the car's condition to its initial state, the mileage, and agree on the cost if any problems arise during the trip, mostly minor scratches."

Currently, the number of rental cars is trending upwards due to the high demand for weddings. Shop owners say that many customers have already placed orders for the Lunar New Year holiday, as those who book early often receive preferential prices.

In the districts, car rental services are also gradually developing, mostly offered by homeowners who have 2-3 unused cars, providing this service to the public at a cost suitable for rural areas.
