Landscape decoration services are attracting many customers as Tet approaches.

Having just completed her spacious new three-story house, Ms. Nguyen Thuy An (Lat town, Tan Ky district) will move in during Tet (Lunar New Year). Wanting to decorate her house beautifully and brightly to welcome relatives and friends, Ms. An contacted a local decor company to handle the work.

Ms. An said: “I want every corner of the living room, dining room, or foyer to be a beautiful photo spot for my family and friends when they come to visit. Therefore, I hired a decor service for one day at a cost of 10 million VND to decorate my house with a strong spring theme.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh from Hung Loc ward (Vinh City) chose to decorate his house with a miniature Tet scene, hoping to both create a focal point for his home and teach his children and grandchildren about the Tet customs and traditions of their ancestors, so that they can preserve and promote them.

Mr. Binh said: “Decorating the house with miniature Tet decorations has been a tradition for the past five years. In previous years, when things weren't too busy, the whole family would go choose the materials and decorations and do it ourselves. This year, with a lot of end-of-year work, I hired someone to do it for me. The decorations are quite simple, so for only 2 million VND, I have a very eye-catching miniature corner on the porch.”

Previously, decorating for Tet (Lunar New Year) was mainly done in restaurants, cafes, and amusement parks to create impressive photo spots and attract customers. Now, this trend has spread to offices, schools, and households. Since the beginning of the twelfth lunar month, Ms. Le Anh's interior decoration company in Vinh City has been busy fulfilling orders for Tet-themed decorations.

Ms. Anh said: "The shops start preparing very early to create a focal point to attract customers. Starting after the 15th day of the 12th lunar month, agencies, units, and schools have already scheduled construction, while households start after the 20th day of the 12th lunar month."

"This December alone, our company has received approximately 300 orders for Tet (Lunar New Year) landscape construction. Our 20 workers have been working at full capacity from early morning until late at night to keep up with customer demand."

According to Ms. Anh, the construction is based on customer requirements; the company will survey the actual space, develop ideas for the customer, and then carry out the construction. The Tet decorations are made from domestic materials such as rattan, bamboo, paper, foam, and velour wire, forming shapes of banh chung (square sticky rice cake), banh tet (cylindrical sticky rice cake), greetings, lucky money envelopes, peach blossoms, and apricot blossoms, making them quite affordable.

With 5 years of experience in the profession, Mr. Dong Van Trong (Dien Thanh town, Dien Chau district) often decorates for families and classrooms with small spaces. According to Mr. Trong, decorating must be based on the customer's taste. Some people like traditional, old-fashioned Tet decorations, while others prefer to incorporate modern elements. Therefore, the process of finding suitable materials is crucial.

"Renovating a small space only takes about half a day or a full day. Prices range from a few million dong, including materials. Because homeowners only 'beautify' their homes once a year during Tet (Lunar New Year), praying for good luck and peace throughout the year, almost no one haggles over the price. However, we still try to offer the most reasonable prices, mainly focusing on making a profit from our labor," said Mr. Dong Van Trong.

Due to increased demand, decorators are in high demand at this time of year, and their income has also increased, ranging from 700,000 to 1,000,000 VND per day or paid per order. After each Tet season, decorators can earn tens of millions of VND.
