Listing the car models currently eligible for registration fee discounts.
While awaiting the government's approval of the proposed 50% reduction in registration fees for domestically assembled cars, numerous car manufacturers and dealerships have already implemented registration fee subsidies and price reductions for many car models on the market.
Since last December, car sales in Vietnam have been gradually declining. In February alone, the total car sales figure, as announced by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), reached just over 17,300 vehicles – the lowest level since the automotive market hit its lowest point in September 2021.
Amidst the current slowdown in overall Vietnamese automobile sales, many car manufacturers and dealerships are employing the tactic of "old wine in new bottles," launching a series of incentives and financial support programs for customers to stimulate consumer demand.
This can be seen as a "test" targeting consumer psychology. Most car manufacturers and distributors are launching promotional policies and discounts on many models and lines. From budget cars to urban SUVs, 7-seater SUVs, popular 5+2 seat MPVs, and even B-segment sedans – the most popular car segment in Vietnam in recent years – all are being offered at reduced prices.
Currently, some car manufacturers and dealers are offering price reductions through subsidies and preferential registration fee rates. Specifically:
1. Nissan Vietnam

Nissan Vietnam is offering a 100% registration fee waiver for customers purchasing Nissan Almera models manufactured in 2022 (VIN 2022) during March 2023.
The current listed price for the Nissan Almera EL version is 539 million VND and the VL version is 595 million VND. Customers who choose to buy these versions will benefit from a program that covers 100% of the registration fee plus a complimentary accessories package, bringing the total value of the discount to a maximum of 90 million VND.
Besides the Nissan Almera, several other models from the Japanese automaker are also being offered with significant discounts in March. Specifically, customers buying the Nissan Kicks receive cash and accessory discounts totaling 80 million VND, while the discount for the Pro4X version of the Nissan Navara pickup truck is 150 million VND.
2. Honda CR-V and Honda City

Honda also continues to offer a 50% reduction in registration fees for the Honda City and Honda CR-V models, including the 2023 versions, with a value equivalent to VND 26.45 - VND 35.94 million for the City and VND 49.9 - VND 68.28 million for the CR-V (the exact reduction may vary depending on the registration location).
Notably, according to information from Honda, this program applies to models manufactured this year (with VIN number 2023).
3. Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid and Suzuki XL7

Suzuki's two flagship models in the affordable MPV segment are both being offered with a 50% reduction in registration fees in March 2023. Specifically, customers purchasing the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid and Suzuki XL7 will receive a 50% discount on registration fees. This policy is valid until March 31st.
According to assessments, the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid and Suzuki XL7 are currently lagging behind other budget MPV models in Vietnam.
4. Toyota Vios and Toyota Corolla Cross
This March, customers purchasing a Toyota Corolla Cross or Toyota Vios will benefit from a 50% discount on registration fees. This promotion is only available for the 1.8G and 1.8V versions of the Toyota Corolla Cross manufactured in 2022.

The current listed price for the 1.8G version is 755 million VND and the 1.8V version is 860 million VND. Customers purchasing this urban SUV in March will receive a discount of 75.5-103.2 million VND, depending on the registration location.
For the Toyota Vios, customers purchasing the G and E MT versions will also receive a 50% discount on registration fees along with genuine accessories (The maximum value of the discount a customer can receive when buying a Toyota Vios in March is 37 million VND).
In addition, dealerships are also offering promotions on the Toyota Veloz Cross and Toyota Avanza Premio. Customers who purchase these two MPV models in March will receive one year of Toyota insurance and a service voucher (this program only applies to the standard Toyota Veloz Cross and the automatic transmission version of the Avanza Premio).
5. Mitsubishi applies this policy to a range of models.
A number of other models such as Mitsubishi Attrage, Mitsubishi Triton, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Mitsubishi Outlander, and Toyota Vios… are also being offered a 50% reduction in registration fees by the manufacturers for car buyers.

Specifically, the discount for the Mitsubishi Attrage ranges from 19-25 million VND (depending on the version and registration location).
Customers purchasing a Mitsubishi Triton this March will receive a discount of 19-28 million VND. The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has a discount of up to 57-68 million VND, and the Mitsubishi Outlander has a discount of 42-47.5 million VND.
6. MG5

Like other models, the MG5 C-segment sedan is also being offered by the manufacturer with a partial registration fee subsidy for customers purchasing the vehicle in March 2023.
Specifically, customers who choose to buy the MG5 STD (523 million VND) and LUX (588 million VND) versions will receive a 50% discount on registration fees, equivalent to 26.15-35.28 million VND depending on the vehicle registration location.
However, the MG ZS's selling price has now been adjusted upwards by 10 million VND, bringing the listed price of this SUV to 538-638 million VND (price varies depending on the version).
