(Baonghean.vn) - With the theme "The Beauty of the Northwest Region," the 2023 Hoa Ban Festival and the 7th Dien Bien Province Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival opened on the evening of March 12th at the 7/5 Square, Dien Bien Phu City.

Attending the opening ceremony were: Mr. Do Van Chien, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Ms. Tong Thi Phong, former member of the Politburo and former Standing Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Mr. Vo Van Dung, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission; along with leaders from several ministries, central agencies, and a number of provinces and cities.

International delegates included: Mr. Seng-Phet Hung-Bun-Nhuong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam; Mr. Abdelhamid Boubazine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Algerian People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam; Mr. Jaime Francisco Rodríguez, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Dominican Republic to Vietnam; and delegates from several provinces in Northern Laos…

Representing Dien Bien province were Comrade Tran Quoc Cuong, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; representatives from provincial departments, agencies, and organizations; and representatives from districts, towns, and cities within the province, along with a large number of local people and tourists.

The Ban Flower Festival is a celebration of the traditional cultural beauty of the ethnic communities in the Northwest region. In the photo, a model of a gourd is displayed, symbolizing that all Vietnamese ethnic groups originated from gourds, sharing a common origin and roots.

Emphasizing the significance of the Hoa Ban Festival as an opportunity to honor, preserve, and promote the unique traditional values ​​of the 19 ethnic communities in Dien Bien province; and to promote the beauty of Dien Bien in particular and the Northwest region in general, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Thanh Do also provided further information about the province's potential, hoping that investors will explore and support Dien Bien's development into a prosperous and strong province.

At the opening night, the Organizing Committee of the 2023 Hoa Ban Festival honored the sponsors who have accompanied Dien Bien and contributed to the success of the festival, such as: Vietnam Petroleum Corporation; Viettel Dien Bien; Dien Bien Telecommunications; Sen Ao Dai Designer; Vietnam Airports Corporation…

One of the performances in the opening art program was themed "The Colors and Flavors of the Northwest Region."

Following the spectacular opening ceremony of the 2023 Hoa Ban Festival and the 7th Dien Bien Province Ethnic Groups' Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival, a special art program themed "The Fragrance of the Northwest" was presented. The program consisted of two parts: "Spreading Fragrance in the Northwest" and "Dien Bien: A Shimmering Land of Aspirations," featuring 12 meticulously produced and grandly staged performances, including choral singing and dancing, combining creative and traditional elements with modern influences.

The beautifully designed outdoor stage, combined with lighting effects and 3D techniques, offers viewers a colorful symphony, recreating an artistic picture rich in the culture of the ethnic groups in Dien Bien, a land of hospitable people. At the same time, it showcases Dien Bien's aspiration for development in the new era.

A large number of locals and tourists from all over came to watch and cheer on the competitions in the traditional folk sports.

The artistic program concluded with a circle dance symbolizing unity. Everyone joyfully joined hands in the circle, rejoicing in the music, exchanging smiles, firm handshakes, and heartfelt promises.
