Dien Chau: Authorities seize 3.6 tons of jellyfish treated with preservatives of unknown origin.
(Baonghean.vn) - The Environmental Police Team of Nghe An Provincial Police inspected and discovered 3.6 tons of jellyfish treated with preservatives of unknown origin at a jellyfish processing facility owned by Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga in Dien Hai commune (Dien Chau district).
At 8:00 AM on May 9th,TeamEnvironmental Police of Nghe An ProvincecheckAuthorities discovered 500 containers of finished jellyfish products weighing 3.5 tons and 100 kg of jellyfish soaking in tanks at the processing facility of Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga (born in 1965), residing in Hamlet 4, Dien Hai Commune, Dien Chau District.

During the processing, Ms. Nga used a white powder. She admitted that this powder was alum, of unknown origin and production location. She claimed it was used to whiten, remove the fishy smell, and preserve the jellyfish for longer.

Immediately afterwards, the Environmental Police Team of Nghe An Provincial Police coordinated with relevant agencies to collect samples for testing and examination of the white powder and finished jellyfish products to aid in the investigation.
Simultaneously, the jellyfish were sealed and 40kg of white powder were seized. An investigation was launched to clarify the incident and handle it in accordance with the law.
