(Baonghean.vn) -The Phu Dien urban area, which previously comprised 4 communes with an area of ​​1,181 hectares (population 50,000 people), has now expanded to include 9 communes and towns, as well as a part of Dien Thap commune, increasing its area to over 4,493 hectares (population over 80,000 people).

The urban area includes the town, Dien Thanh commune, the area east of the railway line from Dien Phuc commune, the area north of Dien Tan commune, Dien Hoa commune, Dien Ngoc commune, and a part of the southern area of ​​Dien Ky commune. Accordingly, investment will be made in developing seafood processing, ports, and agriculture; exploiting accompanying service and tourism systems, along with reviving traditional craft villages, industries, and small-scale handicrafts; and focusing on exploiting and utilizing the sea surface area to develop resort tourism services.

According to the new plan by the Nghe An Institute of Planning and Construction Architecture, the administrative area of ​​the Dien Chau District People's Committee will be moved from Dien Thanh commune to Dien Hoa commune, the industrial zone will be moved to the north, and the park area will be converted into mixed-use land.
