Upon learning of the passing of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction and the Lao people; the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people; the President of the Cambodian People's Party Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Manet, the President of the Cambodian National Assembly Khuon Sudary; General Raúl Castro Ruz and the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz Canel-Bermúdez; President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation (Upper House of Parliament) Valentina Matvienko, and Chairperson of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation (Lower House of Parliament) Vyacheslav Volodin have sent condolences to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and the people of Vietnam.

The Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction, and the people of all ethnic groups in Laos express their deepest condolences upon learning of the passing of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, on July 19, 2024.
With the passing of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, the Party, State, and people of fraternal Vietnam have lost a steadfast revolutionary leader. Throughout his revolutionary life, he dedicated his heart and intellect to important tasks in the cause of national liberation, reunification, and the renewal of the Communist Party of Vietnam, especially in building and strengthening a clean and strong Party, as well as in combating corruption and negative phenomena, leading Vietnam to continuous development and significantly enhancing its position in the international and regional arena. He has become an outstanding leader of his time.
With the passing of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, the Party, State, and people of Laos have lost an extremely close and dear comrade. Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong was a revolutionary leader in the new era, a successor to the cause of President Ho Chi Minh, who made a great, valuable, and important contribution to strengthening and nurturing the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States, and peoples of Laos and Vietnam, and Vietnam and Laos, throughout the years.
In this moment of sorrow, we extend our deepest condolences to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnamese people, and the bereaved family.
We believe that the Party, State, and people of fraternal Vietnam will transform this sorrow into a strength of national unity to continue moving forward, building Vietnam into an industrialized and modernized country, and achieving the goal of a prosperous people, a strong nation, democracy, fairness, and civilization.

The passing of Comrade General Secretary is a great loss to the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and moreover, to the entire Vietnamese people. The legacy of Comrade General Secretary, a wise leader who dedicated his entire life to the struggle for Vietnam's independence and for the peace and prosperity of the Vietnamese people, will be remembered by many generations to come.
The General Secretary has strengthened the enduring fraternal friendship with Cambodia and has persistently strived over the years to enhance close cooperation not only between the Cambodian People's Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam, but also between the two governments and peoples of our two countries.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was an outstanding leader with profound vision and immense contributions, who had a tremendous impact on Vietnam's socio-economic development and institutional modernization. Upon learning of the passing of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to him.
Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong dedicated his entire life to serving the Fatherland. Through many years of service in important positions within the State and the Party, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong earned the profound respect of the Vietnamese people and enjoyed great prestige internationally. Russia will remember the General Secretary as a true friend who made a tremendous personal contribution to the establishment and development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Moscow and Hanoi.

In a letter of condolence, Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, wrote: "It is difficult to overstate the immense contributions of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong to strengthening the friendly relations between the Russian Federation and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. On behalf of the delegates of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, allow me to convey our condolences to the family and relatives of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong."
