Actor Quoc Tuan - a father who has made many people admire him for his extraordinary willpower, accompanying his son on his journey to cure his illness for the past 15 years, cried during a press conference at the Cinema Association on the morning of September 21 regarding the situation of Vietnam Feature Film Studio after equitization.
Although he rarely showed weakness in front of others during his journey to cure his son, this time was an exception. Actor Quoc Tuan shared with VietNamNet: “I cried because I was helpless before something I never thought could happen. Today I was truly helpless and indignant when I was insulted and trampled by a group of people - I can say they have no conscience towards artists. Those people also looked at our works and seemed to like them, but then they trampled on those works. That is something we cannot accept and are extremely heartbroken about.”
Actor Quoc Tuan shared that since the film studio was equitized, artists were not allowed to make films and were forced to go through the back gate of the studio instead of the main gate they had used for nearly 60 years. In addition, many departments were merged to create space for rent. Many artists were not paid or received only meager salaries. The actor of "The Condor and the General" also announced that from today he would refuse to accept the salary of 540,000 VND/month that the studio is paying him. Because artists like him have never lived on the studio's salary for a long time and would not leave the studio because of such bad treatment.

Actor Quoc Tuan confided that although he has been treating his child for many years, the company's new and old leaders have never once asked about him. |
Over the past few days, the story behind the equitization of Vietnam Feature Film Studio has attracted public attention. Many artists, including actor Quoc Tuan, could not sign the petition sent to the Cinema Association on September 9, but instead attended many meetings to express their opinions on the incident.
In the meeting at the Cinema Association on the morning of September 21, in addition to Quoc Tuan, there were many famous faces of the time such as actor Duc Luu (playing Thi No), actress Thanh Tu (Sao Thang 8), director Nguyen Thanh Van, screenwriter Hong Ngat, Le Phuong, cameraman Nguyen Huu Tuan, Ly Thai Dung...

The meeting on the morning of September 21 was attended by many famous artists. |
Like actor Quoc Tuan, director Nguyen Thanh Van also burst into tears when talking about the situation of the Film Studio where his father, the late People's Artist Hai Ninh, was once the director. "The new leader of the Studio told the press that the Studio has more than 80 people but only 20 people are working. I would like to say that the 20 people who are supposed to be working are the security team, members of the board of directors, the administrative department, the finance department... people who come to the Studio regularly. As for us, the filmmakers, if we don't come to the Studio, we are considered not working."
Faced with this issue, writer Chu Lai believes that manual labor cannot be equated with the intellectual labor of artists. Screenwriter Nguyen Thi Hong Ngát – Vice President of the Cinema Association – former Director of Vietnam Feature Film Studio – who has been speaking out strongly about the situation of Vietnam Feature Film Studio in the press and on social networks for many days, emotionally shared:
“We are facing the risk of Vietnam Feature Film Studio becoming zero and being eliminated. On September 18, the Association sent a document requesting the resolution of the appeal for help from the staff and artists of Vietnam Feature Film Studio to the leaders at all levels, and this document was on the desk of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam. That is why the Deputy Prime Minister visited the Studio on September 20. The meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister and Vietnam Feature Film Studio was also postponed from September 19 to the afternoon of September 21. We will also participate and contribute our opinions.”
Mr. Dang Xuan Hai - Chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Association suggested that the equitization process of Vietnam Feature Film Studio should be reconsidered, and even a new investor should be found for the Studio. Mr. Hai also stated that the land belonging to Vietnam Feature Film Studio, which is a seaplane house of more than 90 square meters with a red book, cannot be valued at 0.

People's Artist Thanh Van is heartbroken by the current situation of the film studio where he works as a promotional artist. |
Even in the meeting on the morning of September 21, some artists proposed to return the more than 30 billion VND that the Water Transport Company had spent to become a strategic shareholder and gain leadership of Vietnam Feature Film Studio.
Through the video, some veteran artists such as People's Artist Tra Giang, The Anh, Minh Duc... from Ho Chi Minh City also expressed their sorrow at the current situation of Vietnam Feature Film Studio. People's Artist Tra Giang also burst into tears when talking about the Film Studio that made her name as well as the Vietnamese cinema at one time such as Chi Tu Hau, Em Be Ha Noi...
Notably, at this meeting, a recording of the discussions with the artists and the Company's leaders was also released. Notably, there was a share by Mr. Nguyen Danh Thang - Deputy General Director of the Water Transport Company when he told the artists that the Company's leaders would create conditions and mechanisms for the artists to sell pho, creating their own income!?
