Things to avoid when driving at high speed.

Many unexpected situations can occur when driving at high speeds, so drivers need to follow safety techniques to avoid potential accidents.

Driving at high speeds requires concentration and a readiness to react to any situation. Here are some principles for safe high-speed driving:

Do not drive with one hand.

Driving with one hand or crossing your arms when cornering is a habit of many drivers. However, this habit should only be adopted when driving slowly.

When driving at high speeds, place your hands at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions to best feel the road feedback on the steering wheel. Additionally, this position allows the driver to easily steer from side to side, without obstructing the airbag deployment in the event of a collision.

Avoid sitting in the wrong posture.

When driving at high speeds, drivers should pay attention to finding the most comfortable seating position. Depending on the individual's physique, the driver should adjust the seat and steering wheel accordingly.

According to experienced drivers, when driving fast, you should lower your seat slightly to feel the shift in your center of gravity. The seat back should be reclined to about 110 degrees; it should not be upright at 90 degrees or too far back.

You should look further ahead.

When driving, many drivers only stare at the space ahead and don't look far ahead. This poses many dangers when the car is traveling at high speed. Therefore, when driving at high speeds, drivers should extend their gaze to observe the direction of curves, and observe the road markings to know the width of the curve, thereby making appropriate decisions regarding acceleration and braking.

Do not let the vehicle roll freely.

Allowing a vehicle to coast is strictly prohibited at high speeds. When accelerating, releasing the accelerator and letting the vehicle coast reduces traction, creating a dangerous situation.

Therefore, in addition to accelerating, keep your foot lightly on the brake pedal and use trail-braking to feel the road grip and the vehicle's weight.

Don't turn the music up too loud.

Turning up the music can distract drivers, preventing them from concentrating on handling situations on the road. Loud music also masks the sounds of the engine, wind, and tires entering the cabin, making it difficult for the driver to accurately assess the vehicle's operating condition.

According to a study by a Canadian university, the louder the music, the slower a driver's reaction time.

Don't underestimate the speed.

Driving at high speeds often makes drivers (unless they are professional) feel like they are being swept away by the speed. This is why drivers misjudge situations, which can lead to accidents.
