On the evening of July 21st, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Truong Dieu, Deputy Head of the Police Protection and Mobile Unit (Ha Tinh Provincial Police), stated that the unit had suspended Corporal Phan Van Hung (working in the target protection team) from duty pending a review of his actions related to the disturbance of public order and assaulting his girlfriend, resulting in her hospitalization, yesterday afternoon.

According to Mr. Ho Phuc Chau, Chief of Police of Cam Xuyen town (Cam Xuyen district), a report was filed on the evening of July 20th regarding a fight that occurred at a karaoke bar in the area. The two victims were Ms. Hang and her boyfriend, Mr. Duc.

According to the victim's statement, Ms. Hang had previously been in a relationship with Mr. Hung, but they later broke up. Currently, she is in a relationship with Mr. Duc and they are getting married in two days.

Yesterday afternoon, after the engagement ceremony, Ms. Hang and Mr. Duc, along with some friends, went to a karaoke bar in Cam Xuyen town to sing. After singing, Mr. Duc went downstairs and saw Mr. Hung and about 5-6 other people getting out of a 7-seater car and rushing towards him to assault him. Ms. Hang saw this and ran to intervene, but she was also knocked down by the group.

After assaulting the man, Hung's group left.

Ms. Hang and Mr. Duc were injured after being assaulted by Hung's group.

The head of the Cam Xuyen town police informed that when the report was being filed, Mr. Duc was injured and bleeding from the mouth. Ms. Hang was also injured and, being pregnant, was transferred to the hospital for treatment.

"There had been previous conflicts and instances of jealousy between Duc and Hung," Mr. Chau said, adding that because the case exceeded his jurisdiction, it had been handed over to the Cam Xuyen District Police for handling.
