(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of February 24, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to listen to and give opinions on the completion of the Forest Inventory Steering Committee and prepare for the summary of forest protection work in 2015 and the deployment of tasks for 2016.

Comrade Hoang Viet Duong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Forest Inventory Steering Committee chaired. Attending were members of the Steering Committee, leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Forest Inventory Working Group; and members of the Project Management Board.

Currently, the total area of ​​forests and forestry land in the whole province is more than 1,278,663.8 hectares, of which forest land is more than 946,216.3 hectares, with a coverage of 57.4%.

The 2015 inventory results show that, compared with the results of monitoring forest changes in 2014, the total current forested area increased to 41,537.41 hectares (specifically, the forested area in forestry planning decreased by 18,984.83 hectares, the forested area outside forestry increased by 60,558.21 hectares, the coverage was 2.8% higher).

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Hoang Viet Duong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the results achieved in forest inventory work of the units, and emphasized that in the coming time, it is necessary to continue to review 3 types of forests, the inventoried area outside of 3 types of forests to convert to agricultural land. Analyze and clarify the reasons for increase and decrease in area.
