(Baonghean.vn) - The market for gifts on Children's Day (June 1st) is diverse, with increased demand and stable prices. Among them, toys and books that follow social media trends, such as digital coloring books, diamond painting kits, and secret code classes, are popular choices for children.

In recent days, especially on weekend evenings, bookstores, shopping malls, and supermarkets have been crowded, with children aged 3-15 accounting for up to 50% of the customers. This is because it's the summer break for students and close to International Children's Day, so parents are taking their children shopping.

Ms. Hoang My Anh, a parent in Hung Binh ward (Vinh City), said: "The children have just finished their final year of school, so I took them to choose their favorite toys and books. This is both a reward for them after a year of hard work and a gift for Children's Day."

Instead of choosing traditional comic books, her two children opted for the mini "Secret Classroom" anthology, a different version with fewer chapters, more attractive printing, released in early 2023, and accompanied by a "Secret Classroom" board game set priced from 70,000 to 90,000 VND per set.

Mr. Tran Tuan Minh, the owner of a bookstore on Phan Dinh Phung Street (Vinh City), said: “The current trend is that children choose toys that are heavily advertised on social media, especially TikTok. Understanding this trend, we import a wide variety of toys, comic books, and other popular items to serve our young customers.”

Specifically for this Children's Day, our store sold approximately 200 sets of "Code Classroom" comic books and toys, as well as digital coloring books and diamond painting kits.

Toy shops along Nguyen Van Cu, Dinh Cong Trang, and Tran Phu streets are also very busy. Toys such as teddy bears, superheroes, and dolls come in a variety of styles and designs, with prices ranging from 30,000 to 200,000 VND per item.

Besides the affordable toy segment, at high-end toy retailers, skill-developing and intellectual toys such as building models (Lego), smart wooden toys for learning foreign languages, etc., are also popular choices for parents as gifts for their children on June 1st. However, the prices of these items are quite high. A Lego building set costs from 300,000 to 2 million VND/set; toys that train thinking skills for children aged 6 months to 3 years cost from 500,000 to 1 million VND/product…

In addition, many parents choose practical and useful items for their children to give as gifts for the new school year, such as textbooks, storybooks, school supplies, school bags, clothes, bicycles, etc.

To meet the shopping needs of parents for their children and grandchildren during this Children's Day, supermarkets, convenience stores, bookstores, and toy stores throughout the province are offering many promotions on children's products.

Promotional programs include: buy one get one free; free children's toys with purchases of diapers and formula; points accumulation for rewards, lucky draws, free gift wrapping for all orders… With these promotions, sales at the store have increased by 30%-40% compared to normal days.

“Children's Day coincides with the summer vacation and the end of the school year. Many organizations, units, and schools organize recreational activities for children, so the demand for gifts increases. In addition to individual orders sold directly at the store, we receive large orders, with dozens to hundreds of gift sets from various organizations. As a result, the store's revenue increases by 50%,” said Tuan Phi, manager of the children's book and toy section of a large supermarket on Le Nin Avenue.

Not only traditional markets, but also social media platforms, online marketplaces, and e-commerce channels are bustling with a diverse range of goods to meet customer shopping needs. Besides price, parents need to consider the quality, safety, and educational value of the products.
