The trend of choosing to wear the traditional Vietnamese ao dai dress during Tet (Lunar New Year) is gaining attention among fashion enthusiasts.

As a representative of national beauty and with a love for traditional Vietnamese attire, Miss Do My Linh has released a collection of photos featuring modernized ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress).

The familiar brocade fabric, often used in traditional ao dai designs, is given a fresh twist by being combined with lace details on the sleeves, making Miss Vietnam 2016's image different from her previous ao dai photoshoots.

Floral and animal motifs, characteristic of spring, are vividly depicted on each garment.

Using handcrafted embroidery techniques, the Vietnamese fashion house enhances the allure of the dress with ribbon-embroidered floral motifs, complemented by sparkling beadwork and eye-catching metallic threads.

Unlike traditional ao dai dresses with knee-length hems and high, modest necklines, the designs in this collection focus on short sleeves, shorter hems, cropped trousers, and low necklines to provide a light and comfortable feel for the wearer.

Amidst the trend of using fabrics printed with tile patterns and small floral prints in a classic style, the collection stands out thanks to its sophisticated use of color and intricate handcrafted floral patterns.

My Linh stated that the reason for creating this photo series was her love for the ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress). "I want to spread my love and awareness of preserving the traditional beauty of our nation to everyone, especially young people."

The photoshoot was done with the support of photographer Trupi, makeup artist Quan Nguyen, and hairstylist Pu Le.
