Shazam is the eighth film in the DC Comics superhero movie universe (DCEU), scheduled to be released in 2019. The plot revolves around the hero Shazam (also known as Captain Marvel), whose real name is Billy Batson, who has the ability to transform into a superhero after shouting “Shazam!”. The producer has not yet found an actor to play this role, but has chosen the role of his opponent, played by Dwayne Johnson.

In the original comics, Black Adam is the arch-nemesis of the superhero Shazam. The Rock is particularly interested in Black Adam and believes that this character has a more interesting and compelling origin than the hero Shazam.
