The Nghe An Provincial Delegation attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition honoring President Ho Chi Minh at the Newhaven Museum.
During their working visit to Europe, on the morning of May 27th, the Nghe An provincial delegation, led by Mr. Hoang Nghia Hieu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition honoring President Ho Chi Minh at the Newhaven Museum, located in Lewes district, East Sussex, England.

The delegation included: Phan Duc Dong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Vinh City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vinh City People's Council; Nguyen Van De - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Thi Hong Hoa - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; along with leaders from the Office of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation and People's Council; the Departments of Foreign Affairs, Agriculture and Environment, and Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Representing the Vietnamese Embassy in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Do Minh Hung at the ceremony.
Representing the Newhaven government were Kim Bishop, Mayor of Newhaven, and David Kent, Director of the Newhaven Museum.

In her opening remarks, Mayor Kim Bishop welcomed the delegation from Nghe An province to the inauguration ceremony of the exhibition honoring President Ho Chi Minh at the Newhaven Museum and emphasized the special significance of the event. Mayor Bishop affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh is a great historical symbol not only of Vietnam but also has a deep connection with the town of Newhaven – believed to be his first stop in England more than a century ago. She also affirmed that this event contributes to strengthening the friendly relations between Vietnam and the United Kingdom in general, and between Nghe An province and the town of Newhaven in particular.
According to Davi Kent, the museum director, the newly constructed exhibition area aims to honor President Ho Chi Minh, who left a historical mark on Newhaven during his time there in the early 20th century. The museum currently houses many valuable documents related to his travels as well as the town's maritime history.

Representing the delegation, Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu expressed his emotion at witnessing the respect that the Government and people of Newhaven have for President Ho Chi Minh. He thanked them for their efforts in preserving and honoring the historical values associated with him, and affirmed that this is a vivid symbol of friendship between the two countries.
Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu also reviewed the achievements in Vietnam-UK relations after more than 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations and 15 years of establishing a Strategic Partnership. In particular, cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, education, etc., has developed strongly. The United Kingdom is currently Vietnam's third largest trading partner in Europe, Vietnam's ninth largest export market, and one of the major investors in the Vietnamese market.

At the ceremony, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council affirmed that Nghe An always values its cooperative relationship with localities in the UK, including the town of Newhaven. He expressed his desire to expand bilateral cooperation in fields such as culture, tourism, education, and trade. On this occasion, he respectfully invited the delegation from Newhaven town and the Newhaven Museum to visit and work in Nghe An in the near future.
As part of the program, the Nghe An provincial delegation visited Newhaven harbor – the place where the patriotic young man Nguyen Tat Thanh first set foot in the United Kingdom on his journey to find a way to save the country in the early 20th century.
