The delegation from Nghe An province visits and works in the Russian Federation.
To further promote bilateral cooperation with partners in the Russian Federation, from June 25 to 29, 2024, a delegation from Nghe An province, led by Mr. Nguyen Van Thong – Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, visited and worked in the Russian Federation to implement the 2024 foreign affairs program.
The delegation included Comrade Bui Thanh An – Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and representatives from the following agencies: the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Education and Training, and the Provincial Party Committee Office.
On June 25th, the Nghe An Provincial Delegation held a working meeting with the Ulyanovsk Provincial Government. Receiving and working with the delegation were Mr. Aleksey Yurevich Russkich - Governor of Ulyanovsk Province; Mr. Kabonov Oleg Vladimirovich - Vice Chairman of Ulyanovsk Province; and leaders of various agencies of the Ulyanovsk Provincial Government.
Comrade Nguyen Van Thong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, shared that Vietnam and the Russian Federation have a traditional cooperative relationship; the feelings between the two nations have always been close, and the relationship between the Vietnamese community and the people and local authorities of the Russian Federation is very good and friendly. These are important factors for local-level cooperation between the two provinces to become more substantive and in-depth in the future.
Concurring strongly with the opinion of the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, Governor Ulyanov suggested that both sides should focus on the strengths of each locality to support, exchange, and invest in development in many fields; and promptly sign a new cooperation agreement between the two provinces to serve as a basis for implementation in the next phase. Both sides need to discuss and agree on specific contents, and develop an appendix of activities to be implemented each year and each phase. Governor Ulyanov also requested that the leaders of Nghe An province pay attention to the construction of the Ulyanov Vietnam-Russia Friendship Village project in Nghe An province.
Earlier, the delegation visited High School No. 76 named after President Ho Chi Minh. There, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Thong and the members of the delegation were deeply moved by the warm, enthusiastic, and friendly welcome from the teachers and students. The Deputy Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee wished the students continued perseverance and determination to achieve success in the future, and wished the school outstanding achievements in teaching and learning.
On the same day, the Nghe An Provincial Delegation visited the Lenin House Museum; toured Avtodom Co., Ltd., a company specializing in automobile manufacturing and assembly; and the Regional Business Support and Maintenance Center. There, both sides exchanged views on the export potential and strengths of each side.
On June 28th, the delegation held a working meeting with the St. Petersburg City Government. Receiving and working with the delegation were Mr. Kalganov Vyacheslav Gennadievich, Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the St. Petersburg City Government, and representatives from various city government agencies. On behalf of the St. Petersburg City Government, the Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee expressed the desire to soon establish a multifaceted cooperative relationship with Nghe An province, particularly inviting Nghe An province to participate in Project No. 7 between St. Petersburg and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, to conduct delegation exchanges, and to promote activities in which both localities have strengths.
On behalf of Nghe An province, Comrade Nguyen Van Thong agreed on the policy and assigned the Department of Foreign Affairs to take the lead, in coordination with relevant departments, agencies and units, in connecting, advising and implementing specific cooperation activities between the two provinces in the fields of education and training, tourism, trade, investment, and people-to-people diplomacy.
During the working visit, the delegation had cordial meetings with the Association of Vietnamese People in the Russian Federation and the "Solidarity" Association of Vietnamese People in Ulyanovsk Province. Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Thong expressed his gratitude for the Association's significant contributions to Vietnam in general and Nghe An province in particular over the years; affirming that the Association is the most effective link connecting overseas Vietnamese with their homeland. He expressed his confidence that the Association will continue to grow stronger in both membership and quality of activities, making even greater contributions to the homeland.
On this occasion, the delegation laid wreaths at the monuments of President Ho Chi Minh in Ulyanovsk, Saint Petersburg, and Moscow; visited and exchanged views with the Vietnamese Embassy in the Russian Federation on the results of the delegation's working trip to the Russian Federation, and expressed gratitude for the Embassy's attention and support in making the Nghe An provincial delegation's working trip a success, contributing to strengthening cooperative relations between localities and relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in particular.
