Unity is invincible strength.

(Baonghean.vn) - The more we cherish peace, the more we understand the teachings of our beloved President Ho Chi Minh: "Unity, unity, great unity; success, success, great success."

Every Vietnamese person can be proud that, rarely in a country with so many ethnic groups and religions, do people live together in such closeness, harmony, and unity as in our country. This is because every Vietnamese person, regardless of ethnicity or religion, always values humanity, righteousness, and harmony, embodying the spirit of "mutual affection and compassion," "forgiving and overlooking," and "harmony is precious." Therefore, any disagreements based on ethnicity or religion are easily resolved. Thanks to this, in every historical period, our nation has maintained a strong and invincible unity, enabling us to conquer nature and fight against foreign invaders.

Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, especially since our people seized power from colonialism and feudalism in August 1945, the State has issued many policies to promote the development of the country, including the development of ethnic and religious communities. The lives of the people have changed dramatically; Vietnam's position and stature have been elevated to a new level; the Vietnamese ship is sailing towards the open sea. Every Vietnamese citizen today clearly sees and is proud that "our country has never had such a foundation and position as it does today" (Central Committee Resolution 4 - 12th Congress). These are very clear historical values, acknowledged not only by the Vietnamese people but also by the international community. Only those with malicious intentions and dark ambitions would deliberately ignore these facts.

Like other countries in the world, Vietnam has had a Constitution since its founding in 1946, and a legal system to regulate social relations. All citizens are subject to the management of public authorities from the central to the local level. No one can live outside the law, nor can they stand above the law. Any actions contrary to the common good, violating the Constitution and laws, will be dealt with severely and appropriately.

In recent days, the security and order situation in Son Hai commune, Quynh Luu district, has been very turbulent, causing heartbreak for every Vietnamese person. This situation stems from the actions of some extremist priests that go against religious doctrines and laws, and against traditional and historical values.

These shameful actions have tarnished the noble image of religious leaders in particular and the Catholic community in our country in general. Furthermore, the defamation of the core values of our nation has deeply offended the self-respect of every true Vietnamese person.

It is understandable that many people in Son Hai commune and other localities in Nghe An province have strongly protested against these wrongdoings. Many have even resolved to teach these extremist priests a well-deserved lesson – a lesson about morality, a lesson about the role of a citizen in relation to the country, and a lesson about the role of an individual in relation to the noble human values of the nation.

The frustration of the people of Son Hai in this situation is understandable. However, the danger of this frustration is that it could lead to the outbreak of violent conflict, affecting the good unity between Catholics and non-Catholics that we have built.

Every citizen has the right to express their opinion, to show their love for their country, and to fight against evil forces that are plotting to undermine the peace and stability of the nation. However, all actions must be taken in the spirit of upholding the rule of law, as required by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in the May 2017 briefing on security and order.

Therefore, more than ever, every Catholic and non-Catholic citizen in Son Hai commune (Quynh Luu district), in Nghe An province, and throughout Vietnam, needs to be vigilant, clearly discern right from wrong, and resolve disagreements to avoid falling into the traps of malicious individuals. Catholics and non-Catholics alike are inseparable parts of our nation and contribute to the overall development of the country. Most Catholics are good citizens who abide by the Constitution and laws. Those who act against the common good will have their true faces exposed to the light of the heart and justice.

Authorities at all levels, from provincial to commune, are making every effort to maintain stability, closely monitoring the actions of extremist priests, and will take action when they exceed permissible limits. Every official, Party member, and citizen should, through their representative organizations, voice their opinions and take appropriate actions to protect justice, the Party, and the government.

There is no greater happiness than waking up each morning to breathe in the fresh, peaceful air and listening to the church bells and temple bells echoing through the countryside.

More than anyone else, each of us, regardless of ethnicity or religion, understands the value of the peace and happiness our country enjoys. Our people have always cherished peace and absolutely do not want conflict or war. There is no greater happiness than waking up each morning to breathe in the fresh, peaceful air and listening to the resounding church and temple bells.

The more we cherish peace, the more we understand the teachings of our beloved President Ho Chi Minh: "Unity, unity, great unity; success, success, great success." Yes! Once we maintain the great unity of the entire nation, there is no difficulty we cannot overcome, and no force can stop our nation from moving forward.
