According to sales reports from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), VinFast, and TC Motor, sales of A-segment cars in July 2022 are experiencing a general decline as some models have been discontinued. The market in July only saw growth in the Hyundai Grand i10, while its competitor, the Kia Morning, saw a nearly 50% drop in sales compared to June.
Despite announcing a halt to order placements from July 2022, VinFast Fadil sales still topped the A-segment with 766 vehicles delivered to customers.
Second place went to the Hyundai Grand i10 with 634 units sold, making it the only model in the A-segment to record sales increase last month, rising by 199 units. The Hyundai Grand i10 is a new generation model with many impressive changes to its interior and exterior design. It is sold in 6 versions, and the prices for these versions in the Vietnamese market, as announced by TC Motor in August, range from 360-455 million VND. Customers purchasing this model will receive a 50% reduction in registration fees.

Despite reduced competition as some competitors in the same segment withdrew from the market, Kia Morning sales decreased by 114 units compared to the previous month of June. Since the launch of the two new versions, X-line and GT-line, in November 2020, the Kia Morning has not seen any design updates. Currently, the 2022 Kia Morning in Vietnam is available in six versions with prices ranging from 304 to 439 million VND.
The last position on the July 2022 A-segment car sales ranking belongs to the Honda Brio model, with only 14 units delivered to consumers, a decrease of 143 units compared to June. Currently, the Honda Brio has been discontinued in the Vietnamese automotive market for many months now; these are only remaining units being sold at discounted prices.
Currently, Vietnamese consumers have very few choices in the small, affordable car segment, with only two Korean models available. Meanwhile, recently, affordable sedan models that are only slightly more expensive than A-segment cars but boast attractive designs, numerous improvements, and spacious interiors are becoming increasingly popular, with impressive sales growth over several months.
