Unique 13 bee colonies making nest on a kapok tree in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - A kapok tree has 13 honeybee nests living together in peace. That kapok tree belongs to Mr. Pham Van Khoa's family living in Hamlet 4, Thanh Son Commune (Anh Son).

Mr. Khoa said that last year, this kapok tree had 2 colonies of bees coming to make nests. And from July 2015 until now, in just 4 months, the kapok tree has welcomed 11 new bee "houses". On average, every month, this kapok tree has 2 colonies of bees. What is quite special is that although there are many trees around, the bees only "gather" at Mr. Khoa's kapok tree.

In 2014, the kapok tree only had 2 beehives, but from July 2015 until now, it has welcomed 11 new beehives.

According to records, among the 13 honey bee hives, the largest one is more than 1.2 meters long and more than 0.5 meters wide; the smallest one is nearly 0.6 meters long and 0.3 meters wide. And according to Mr. Khoa, the number of bee hives will likely continue to increase in the near future.

Many people came to offer to buy the above mentioned beehives but Mr. Khoa's family refused to sell. He said that it was not only a strange thing but also a lucky thing for his family and he had to take responsibility to protect these special bee colonies.
