This lucky man's name is Derek McLennan. Derek found a treasure trove of ancient artifacts dating back thousands of years, including silver bracelets and brooches, gold rings, glazed porcelain crosses, gold pins, and more.
Derek found this antique jar in a field in western Scotland in 2014. After finding it, Derek brought it to the authorities to determine ownership of the unclaimed item.
Authorities have now officially determined that the 100 antiques of varying sizes that Derek found are valuable artifacts. The National Museum of Scotland wants to collect them for display. Based on estimates from antiques experts, the museum needs to arrange to pay Derek £1.98 million (approximately 58 billion VND).
This figure was given after referencing market prices. Interestingly, in Scotland, for the discovery of artifacts, the value of the item belongs solely to the finder; conversely, in the rest of the United Kingdom, the value of the item is divided between the finder and the owner of the land.
Currently, the museum has six months to raise funds from various sources if it wishes to quickly acquire the antique jar that Derek found.
